Alan is now head of the organ deptartment at Curtis and is a Curtis Graduate, having earned degrees in organ and the master's degree in piano, chamber music and accompanying. 4/13 - Joint Worship With Temple Kehillat Chaim.
On Sunday, April 13, Rabbi Harvey Winokur (pictured at left), Cantor Barbara Margulis (pictured at right), and the adult choir from Temple Kehillat Chaim, a Reform Jewish congregation in Roswell, will join us at Holy Trinity for our 10:30 a.m. worship service. HT parishioners may recall that our clergy and choir participated in an interfaith Shabbat service at Kehillat Chaim in January. Rabbi Winokur will address our congregation about Passover, which begins this year on the evening of Saturday, April 19. Our combined choirs will sing a setting of the appointed psalm for the day, Psalm 23, and also an anthem during the Offertory.
4/20 - Youth and Children's Sunday On this festive day we will showcase the gifts of Holy Trinity's youth and children. Young people will serve as liturgical ministers at the 8:00 and 10:30 services. The 10:30 service will also include chancel dramas by the youth and by the Rotation Sunday School children, music from Faith Factory and the youth, and the Rite-13 ceremony, which marks the beginning of the transition to adulthood for youth in the Rite-13 class. PARISH LIFE
Help Needed With Repairs. Are you handy with tools? Here at HTP, just like at your home, there are a lot of jobs that need to be done, ranging from hanging coat racks in the pre-school to planing down a door that is sticking. With sufficient response we can share the load and keep the time required to a minimum. Please contact John Leonard at 404-641-0330 or johnleon@bellsouth.net. We need your help.
4/14 - Feminist Theological Reflection Group The FTRG will meet Monday, April 14, at 6:30 p.m. in Tisdale Hall. Please bring a dish. Carole Fulghum will present a program on "Who Is The Real Mary Magdalene?" All women of the parish are invited. Contact: Mayo Moses, 404.633.0012.
4/18 - Seniors in Action to Spelman College
On Friday, April 18, the Seniors in Action will meet at the church at 12 p.m. and travel to Spelman College for lunch and a guided tour. The liberal arts college for women was founded in 1881 as Atlanta Baptist Female Seminary and set up shop in a church basement. By 1884, John D. Rockefeller became interested and helped finance the purchase of the present property. The college was renamed for his wife, Laura Spelman and her family, who had been active in the anti-slavery movement. There are many early 20th century buildings on the campus as well as modern ones. Bill Cosby is a present day benefactor. Please join us for this interesting afternoon. (Note: the change of day is to allow those who have been unable to join us on our usual Thursday.)
4/19 - Decatur Earth Day Celebration On Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., the City of Decatur, along with Decatur Recreation and Oakhurst Presbyterian Church, will host an Earth Day celebration in Harmony Park (corner of East Lake Drive and Oakview Road, Decatur).
4/19 - Shrimp Boil and Entertainment Revue
Come and enjoy this wonderful low country boil to be hosted by the Brotherhood of St. Andrew on Saturday, April 19. The dinner is at 5:30 p.m. in Tisdale Hall. Immediately following the dinner will be the Entertainment Revue, a celebration of music, comedy, and drama by Holy Trinity parishioners. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children, with a $50 family maximum, and will be on sale in the narthex after both services starting today. To sign up to perform at the Entertainment Revue, please contact Chris Bray at the parish office.
5/7 - 5/10 - Icon Workshop
Judy Langford and Sandy Kezar (Hildreth Stafford's mother) will be offering an icon workshop at HTP from May 7-10. This is NOT an art class - you do not need to be a draftsman or a painter to "write" a beautiful icon. This is a class of prayer. We work mostly in silence, with Gregorian chant in the background. The class begins with the priest blessing our hands and ends with the blessing of our completed icons. The cost is $150 and covers all materials. You will only need to bring a rag for paint, a bottle for water and a towel to protect your icon. Questions? Contact Sandy at 813-385-9956 or KzSand7@aol.com. Fr. Deneke has taken both of the previous icon workshops at Holy Trinity and can probably answer many of your questions as well. Spread the word to anyone you think might be interested!

THE CLEAN WATER PROJECT IN HAITI Holy Trinity is pleased to begin supporting the Clean Water Project in Haiti in cooperation with Food for the Poor, a global relief organization.
Thanks to this exciting initiative, 55,000 - 75,000 people in
Cap-Haitien and Port au Prince have clean drinking water now.
(Formerly, they relied on rainwater collected in open ditches near
sewage.) A similar project for 13 wells in Port de Paix is under construction, scheduled for completion this spring. Funding from Holy Trinity will provide thousands of people, including many children, with clean water. (One well costs $4,075.) To date over $29,600 has been contributed by Holy Trinity parishioners. Contribution envelopes are available in the narthex. For more information, contact Susan Hunsinger, Millennium Development Goals chairperson or Ed Buckley, Haitian Clean Water Project coordinator, at 404.373.1903.
Bring Food Contributions for DEAM Every Sunday
The Outreach Committee encourages everyone, as a discipline of the Christian life, to bring at least one non-perishable food item for DEAM (Decatur Emergency Assistance Ministry) each Sunday.
In January alone, DEAM distributed over 2.5 tons of food to those in need in our community! Food items can be placed in a basket in the library area, and will be brought forward with the other gifts during the worship service. (Sign up in the library area if you would like to serve by bringing the gifts forward during the offertory.)
Please bring food staples (not unusual or exotic foods), and remember healthy and special diets. Please do not bring dented cans or out-of-date (expired) foods. Older DEAM clients sometimes have health problems like diabetes and heart problems so low sodium and low or fat free foods are good. Juices are appropriate, but please, no candy or junk foods. Thanks for sharing and God bless!

By the Way...
A note from Sandy and Martin McCann Missionaries to Africa from the Diocese of Atlanta
A HOLY WEEK JOURNEY LIKE NO OTHER... COME AND SEE...
"So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet." John 13:14
Dear Friends,
Happy Easter! As we begin the glorious 50 days of the season, I want to share how mine began, returning to the beginning of Holy Week on Palm Sunday. Lent has always been one of my favorite seasons. After the abundance of Thanksgiving and Christmas I usually find myself ready for a more disciplined way of eating and spending. For me the Lenten Season brings back fond memories of book studies and prayer groups, of mite boxes and of other small sacrifices that somehow have been important and meaningful in my overall spiritual journey. I have practiced both giving up and taking on. In one particularly busy and stressful Lenten Season when I found that I could not give up, I prayed for and received extraordinary energy. Whatever the discipline, by Good Friday, I usually felt more grounded in Jesus, more aware of returning to dust.
For the last nine years I have not been able to fully immerse myself in Holy Week as I have been either attending or teaching seminary classes which did not conclude until midweek. But this year Msalato Theological College took a full two-week break. This gift of time gave me the extraordinary opportunity of helping a parish priest and friend, the Rev. Darius Sudayi, to serve his six village churches in the Parish of Maduma. A delightful retired priest, the Reverend Hubert Nyembela, also helped us.
