You're Invited to Learn More About THE CLEAN WATER PROJECT IN HAITI Sunday, Feb. 24 at 9:15 a.m. in the Gaylord Room
Holy Trinity is pleased to begin supporting the Clean Water Project in Haiti in cooperation with Food for the Poor, a global relief organization. Thanks to this exciting initiative, 55,000 - 75,000 people in Cap-Haitien and Port au Prince have clean drinking water now. (Formerly, they relied on rainwater collected in open ditches near sewage.)
A similar project for 13 wells in Port de Paix is under construction, scheduled for completion this spring. Funding from Holy Trinity will provide thousands of people, including many children, with clean water. The vestry has committed close to $5,700 from the parish Clean Water Fund for this purpose. (One well costs $4,075.)
Offerings for the project are welcome, as we focus on global outreach in this way during the season of Lent. (Look for special envelopes through March or designate "Clean Water Fund" on your check made payable to Holy Trinity. All donations to the fund through March will be designated to the project. This is in addition to the $5,700 already committed.)

WORSHIP & THE ARTS
3/15 - Acolyte Training Workshop in the nave on Saturday, March 15 from 9 a.m. until about noon. This session is especially for those serving regularly at 8:00, because the Palm Sunday and Easter 8:00 services are held in the nave. Also, many of you will "move up" with the next schedule after Easter. However, all current acolytes that would like a refresher and those that can help lead the training are encouraged to attend. This would also be a good chance for those teens and adults that are interested in the acolyte ministry to learn a couple of assignment positions to begin an "on the job" training process. Contact: Tommy Lowndes, 404.630.2347, teel3@aol.com.
Sign Up for Maundy Thursday Sacred Watch. A sacred watch (prayer with the reserve sacrament) will be held in the chapel starting immediately after the Maundy Thursday (March 20) Eucharist service and will run through the noontime Good Friday (March 21) service. A sign-up sheet is on the table in the parish office. Sign up to pray in one-hour time periods starting on the hour and half-hour to provide a constant presence throughout the watch period. Security will be provided during the nighttime hours, 9:30 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. Contact John Madajewski, 404.378.4277 or shirleygrace2@bellsouth.net.
3/22 - Baptism. The next date for Holy Baptism will be at the Easter Vigil service on Saturday, March 22 at 8 p.m. If you are interested in participating, contact Fr. Allan Sandlin at sandlin@htparish.com.

Sunday Morning Class Offerings Class offerings are posted on the bulletin board on the second floor as well as in the Adult Christian Formation section of the HTP website. All classes meet at 9:15 a.m. A new Newcomer's Class will begin Jan. 27. Current classes are: · The Bible: Echoes and Mirrors, Comer Center Commons · Life In Christ, Comer Center Room 257 · Newcomer's Class, Gaylord Room · Everyday Faith for Men, Trinity House
Men Discuss Faith in Everyday Life in New Class A friend of mine told me recently over lunch: "On Sunday mornings, I feel connected to God and other people, but I lose sight of things pretty quickly on Monday morning." If you've ever had a thought like that and you are a man, please join us on the Sunday mornings during Lent (Feb. 10 - March 16) for a conversation about faith in our daily lives. We will have an open-ended conversation about different aspects of our lives as men who are Christian. Join Associate Rector Allan Sandlin and a team of lay leaders for the conversation. The class will meet in Trinity House. Please enter by the door on E Ponce de Leon Ave.
Lenten Series This Week - Faith and Politics
This Thursday, Feb. 21, as part of our continuing Lenten series on Christian ethics, Dr. Theodore Weber, Professor Emeritus of Social Ethics at the Candler School of Theology at Emory, will talk with us about how a Christian thinks about political responsibility and action. His most recent book is entitled Politics in the Order of Salvation: New Directions in Wesleyan Political Ethics. Come for a light supper at 6:30. The program begins at 7:00 p.m. and we will finish by 8:30 p.m. Childcare will be provided.

3/2 - New Faith in Life Class Begins The Faith in Life class begins Sunday, March 2. New people as well as existing church members are welcome to join. It's a wonderful opportunity to discover more about the Episcopal Church. The class meets in the Gaylord Room and is led by Father Bill Deneke.
Soldiers of Conscience Screening March 2
On Sunday evening, March 2, at 7 p.m., we will have the opportunity to see a new award-winning film entitled Soldiers of Conscience (www.socfilm.com). The film's website describes it as follows:
"From West Point grads to drill sergeants, from Abu Ghraib interrogators to low ranking reservist-mechanics; soldiers in the US Army today reveal their deepest moral concerns about what they are asked to do in war. Their message: every soldier wrestles with his conscience over killing. Although most decide to kill, some refuse. Soldiers of Conscience reveals that far more soldiers refuse to kill than we might expect."
The Lenten series that week (Thursday, March 6) will feature a discussion of the film with our guest speakers, the Rev. Dr. Wesley Smith (Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve) and the Rev. Canon Debbie Shew.

OUTREACH
United Thank Offering Boxes Available
Holy
Trinity will be expanding the circle of thankful people when we begin
participating in the United Thank Offering. Please look for the UTO
display in the narthex. You will be able to pick up supplies (a blue
offering box!), and contribute a thankful thought. Our spring
ingathering will be on Pentecost Sunday (May 11).
Bring Food Contributions for DEAM Every Sunday
The Outreach Committee encourages everyone, as a discipline of the Christian life, to bring at least one non-perishable food item for DEAM (Decatur Emergency Assistance Ministry) each Sunday.
In January alone, DEAM distributed over 2.5 tons of food to those in need in our community! Food items can be placed in a basket in the library area, and will be brought forward with the other gifts during the worship service. (Sign up in the library area if you would like to serve by bringing the gifts forward during the worship service, during the offertory.)
Please bring food staples (not unusual or exotic foods), and remember healthy and special diets. Please do not bring dented cans or out-of-date (expired) foods. Older DEAM clients sometimes have health problems like diabetes and heart problems so low sodium and low or fat free foods are good. Juices are appropriate, but please, no candy or junk foods. Thanks for sharing and God bless!
Hunger Walk/Run Coming Up on March 2
The 2008 Atlanta Community Food Bank 10K Hunger Walk / Run will be Sunday, March 2 at Turner Field at 2:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 12:00 p.m. (at Turner Field Blue lot). There is no registration fee; however, there is a suggested minimum donation of $25. Last year, the Atlanta Community Food Bank distributed enough food for over 13 million meals in Metro Atlanta and North Georgia. One of the groups that benefits from the walk is Episcopal Charities. For more information, and to register online, see the Hunger Walk website.

Interfaith Movement in America Digs Deeper Efforts Shifting to Intimate Dialogue, Service Projects
By Michelle Boorstein Washington Post Staff Writer Saturday, February 9, 2008; Page B09
For more than a decade, interfaith efforts have been on the rise in the United States, fueled by the growth of newer religious minority groups and by post-Sept. 11 interest in Islam. But participants and experts say a new credo is changing the movement: Go deeper.
Meeting for months in small dialogue groups. Running a joint anti-gun violence program. Taking educational trips together.
This growing wave represents a significant change in the movement called "interfaith," a transformation driven by the belief that efforts have been too feel-good, not concrete or effective enough. It favors intimate group projects and community service over largely anonymous and safe group settings, such as lectures and joint worship services that happen once a year....
