Quick tips to keep YOU healthy, sane, and productive all week long.

Dr. Jo's headshotGreetings!

Thanks for all your kind notes wishing me a speedy recovery with my rib injury. I'll be back to surfing soon! Meanwhile, I'm just walking, not even permitted to do my yoga. Gosh, I miss that!

For those of you who would like to try surfing...but a less risky version...take a look at my article (below) on Stand Up Paddle Boarding.

I'm heading to New England soon to visit family...and hike the infamous Mt Washington in NH. Can't wait!

Hope you have a fabulous week!

Eat Out:
McDonald's Fruit Smoothies

Have you tried the new Fruit Smoothies. I McD Fruit Smoothiesthink both flavors are good, but Wild Berry is my favorite.  Here's the stats for both the Wild Berry and the Strawberry Banana:

  • Small - 210 calories, 0.5g fat
  • Medium - 260 calories, 1g fat
  • Large - 320 calories, 1g fat
Slow Down:
Take A Vacation

Have you taken your summer vacation yet? And, don't tell me you don't have the time or money.  Vacations are critical for our health and sanity. But, that doesn't mean you have to spend a lot of time or money. You could drive to your local park. Or just take a few days to catch up on reading at home...but NO housework! Sleep in, take long walks, watch your favorite TV shows. Just give yourself a break, ok?
Speed Up:
Stand-Up Paddle (SUP) Board

I've been seeing more of these SUPs recently Stand Up Paddle Boardingand I can't wait to try it out. Similar to a surf board, but wider (about 32") and more stable...one stands up and paddles across the open water.

I've read that people all over the place are SUPing...not just at the ocean but in lakes and rivers, too. You can use it in colder waters because usually only your feet get wet.

The advantage of a paddle board over a kayak is that you can see farther out and deeper into the water.
Each of the above articles are designed to educate you about research or what I or others do to stay healthy, sane, and productive. Always check with your medical doctor and other health professionals (including a registered dietitian) before starting any new diet or exercise program.

Thanks for inviting me into your life this Monday morning. If you enjoyed this newsletter, please forward it onto a friend.
