Quick tips to keep YOU healthy, sane, and productive all week long.

Dr. Jo's headshotGreetings!

Busy, busy, busy...sorry it's been so long since I've touched base with you. Thanks for all those emails asking me if I was still alive! I am!

I got caught up with several things this past month including my new speaking program - REBOOT: how to stay focused, energized, and more productive. I presented in Dallas for the first time last week (it went great!) and have two more programs already booked. Please call or email me if you know of a group of people that need to stay alert on their job! (there's a $250 referral fee in it for you).

This weekend my daughter's coming for a visit. We've got surfing on the calendar...and a nighttime bioluminescence kayak tour. Went on one of these tours last year and it was absolutely spectacular to see the green color (like a glow stick) given off by marine life as they swim by the kayak.

Have a fabulous week!

Eat In:
Skinny Beef

Did you know there are 29 cuts of lean beef? It's true...check out this cool chart to find all your options. These include:

  • Top Sirloin/Sirloin Steak
  • Strip (Top Loin) Steak
  • Top Round Steak
  • T-Bone Steak
  •
Even 95% lean ground beef meets the US government guidelines for lean beef. But, to add tenderness, you might want to add 1/4 cup soft bread crumbs and 1 egg white for every pound of beef.

Here's a recipe for Tangy Lime Grilled Top Round Steak. But, don't stop there...check out all the great recipes for all your favorite cuts.

When dining out in restaurants look for:

  • Strip Steak (Kansas City/New York)
  • Filet Mignon/Tenderloin Steak
  • Top Sirloin/Sirloin Steak
  • T-Bone Steak
  •
    Slow Down:
Dr. Jo's Serenity Prayer for Travelers

Are you taking a trip this summer? If so, keep Dr. Jo's version of the Serenity prayer close by...so you don't get stressed out:

God, grant me the wisdom to plan well for things I can control; to retain patience, perspective, and a backup plan when things I can't control go awry;and the ability to laugh when nothing else works.

    Speed Up:
    Hoop Dancing

NOT to be confused with hoola hooping, hoop dancing uses a larger (and heavier) hoop that is, supposedly, easier to manage. I first hoop dancinglearned about hoop dancing from a woman dancing in a public park in Omaha, NE last summer. It was absolutely spellbinding to see this beautiful dance. The hoop seamlessly spun on her waist, arms, legs, and neck as she moved in this slow graceful dance.

Here's a short you tube video of a woman dancing with her hoop and another one of a co-ed entire dance team. Both are spectacular to watch. I think I need to get into this. Do you hoop dance? If so, send me an email and tell me your story.

One woman took up hoop dancing when advised to quit running. Listen to her story here.

Want your own hoop? You go!
