What It Takes to Be Successful in Business |
|
According to a recent blog at FastCompany , three skills are critical for business success. These include (along with a definition from dictionary.com):
- Hope - the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best
- Vision -the act or power of anticipating that which will or may come to be
- Action - an act that one consciously wills and that may be characterized by physical or mental activity
These words of wisdom come from Frank O'Dea who has successfully started two business industries.
I've met many people who have hopes of starting their own business...but always say they don't have time to do the work it takes. Others go through the motions, but because they don't really believe that companies or individuals can afford their fees, end up putting themselves out of business.
I believe that in order to have hope, you must be optimistic and surround yourself with people who believe in you (friends, coaches, colleagues).
The business plan comes from your vision. It helps you to plan your business, differentiate yourself from your competitors, and set a path to help your financially succeed.
But, the business will only be successful if you act on your plans. If you are having difficulty with hope, vision, or action, please join me in my next "Build Your Business" telecoaching series. I can help.

Greetings! ,
April is such a beautiful month - the warmth of the sun, green
leaves sprouting, baby chicks hatching. Just last week, here in Orlando, we saw our tenant alligator (after a four month hibernation) and our very first lizard of the season.
Spring is a good time to think about a rebirth of your career or business. Are you satisfied with what you're doing? Do you wake up excited to start the day? Are you making enough "dough" to meet your goals?
In just 13 days, I'll begin another six-week telecoaching series, "Build Your Business & Make More Dough." Here's what some past participants said about the program:
"Without Dr. Jo, I would still be in the planning stages."
"Thanks for lighting a scorching fire under my butt. I couldn't have done this without you!"
"Your telecoaching was totally worth my time and money. I feel confident that I have all the tools I need to get started now."
"Dr Jo was an incredible resource and so open and giving of information to help fellow professionals excel in their careers. I was so impressed with her enthusiasm and support for other RD's wanting to develop private business. Thank you Dr Jo!"
"This class was helpful in moving me along in my thoughts about my self-worth as a RD and also to create a better work situation for myself."
Read more about the upcoming telecoaching series below. It's already pre-approved for 6 CEUS.
If you enjoy this enewsletter, would you please forward it to your colleagues?
