Money Making Idea:

FREE Advertising from Your Email Address

Light bulb idea
Do you have an email that ends with aol, gmail, yahoo, or other email service companies?

Now, while that's fine for personal email, I'm shocked at how often business professionals give out these email addresses as their "business" email. By doing so, they've missed a great (and free) opportunity to promote their business.

Once you establish your professional website, ALWAYS set up email addresses coming from that business website.

To look bigger than you really are (or just to manage your email), you might want to have several addresses such as:

These types of email addresses provide an excellent opportunity to share your email address AND your website - all in one! Don't miss another opportunity for FREE advertising.
Greetings!,

Hey, did you hear? I stood up on the surfboard this past weekend, and actually rode a few waves in. I was sooooo thrilled. I never, ever thought I'd have enough guts to get up there....but after overcoming the initial fear, I found out it's actually quite easy (well, on a 9' foam top).

Getting Some Balance Back in Your Life

If everything seems to be spinning faster and faster, it's probably not your imagination. As dedicated business professionals we're trying to get everything done, but it's hard to keep up. Here are some ideas that helped me:

  • Keep at least one day in the weekend sacred. Fitness experts suggest taking at least one or two days off each week from exercise to allow the body to heal. The same rule applies to work. Don't turn on the computer, don't check emails...
  • Then, go out and have some fun. Laughter helps to release endorphins that make us feel good. What makes you laugh?
  • Use your PDA. While some believe technology stress us more, I believe it helps to free me up. I can respond to emails on the road and don't need a day to catch up after returning. But, please, don't check emails during dinner.
  • Take well-deserved breaks. Breaks aren't just for lazy people. Research shows that we all need breaks - preferably a few minutes every hour. Pull yourself away from the computer, take a bit of a walk about (or close your eyes). You'll come back refreshed.
  • Organize. Most of us are flooded with emails. I've found Microsoft Outlook has some great features to organize the swarm. In addition to setting up different email accounts (see the column to the left), set up different Folders in Outlook (Click on "File", "New", "Folders"), then establish "Rules" (under the Tools tab) for where different types of emails will go. For example, you might want to keep listserve emails in a separate folder, and not in your inbox. Now you can control when you'll read the emails.
  • It's Ok to Say No. Are you overcommitted? Then it's time to learn to say no more often. It's easier when you have written goals based on your priorities.

Send me an email about what you do to get balance back in your life.
