| Money Making Idea:
Check Your Job Title! |
 |
Last year, when I was speaking at one of the state dietetic association conferences about How to Make More Dough in Dietetics, a dietitian shared her story of how she got a $7000 raise.
She is a Certified Diabetes Educators (CDE) who works with others, including nurses who are also CDEs. Every CDE has the exact same job description. They all teach diet, meds, and blood sugar control.
She found out that she had a different job title than the nurse CDEs. When she brought this to the attention of the administrators, they quickly changed her to the same title as the nurses - and she got a $7000 raise! |

Benefits of Mastermind Groups |
|
For nearly 10 years while living in Houston, I met with several other speakers every week to discuss pressing issues, brainstorm about ideas, share resources and networks, and keep each other accountable - in a supportive manner. Within months of moving to Orlando, I found another mastermind group. Having a mastermind group is critical to my business.
Would you like to belong to a mastermind group? Here are some tips to form your own:
- Find people with similar interests, goals, and levels of experience (this isn't a teacher/student relationship)
- Agree to meet on a regular basis (at least monthly)
- It's ok to meet on the phone, rather than in person
- Use a set agenda where everyone gets to discuss their issues for a determined amount of time
- Keep the discussions professional. If you want to catch up on each other's personal lives, it's best to schedule this into the agenda and not to let the personal side overtake the business purpose of the mastermind group
- Maintain a supportive environment. Though it's healthy to point out the negatives or potential issues...members should keep the individual's goals in mind when offering suggestions.
Part of the upcoming "Build Your Business Telecoaching" series that I'll be leading this month and next (see the next article), will involve the formation of mastermind groups to continue the success of the program. |
