I work with dietitians who want to start their own business. While they come to me with dreams of developing their own business, they often have no clear idea of what they want to do and if it will make money.
So, this week's enewsletter focuses on how to get "From Fuzzy to Focused." I hope these tips help you get focused on what your future business will look like.
Starting next month...a telecoaching series to help you move your ideas to fruition. Look for an announcement coming soon. I can help you succeed.

From Fuzzy to Focused |

Are you stuck in a dead-end job? Feeling bored and unchallenged? Wish you could make more money, but no idea of what you could do to earn more?
I've been there. And, it's difficult to get unstuck - and excited and refocused about something else. Here are some tips to help you create your vision and go from fuzzy to focused:
- THINK BIG. Ask yourself: If money were no object, if you could just pick up and move, if you had no other obligations, you had a very long list of very influential friends and colleagues....what would you want to do?
- ASK QUESTIONS. Hopefully, you're a member of the Nutrition Entrepreneur (NE) dietetic practice group and are an active member of the listserve. Pay attention to the signatures of those posting. Do they have interesting positions or businesses? If so, email then or give them a quick call to ask them about their business. (If you're not a member of NE, join for the 2009-2010 year...it's a GREAT investment).
- VISION BOARD. I periodically use a vision board to get refocused. Get a large piece of construction board and lots of magazines. Flip through the magazines. Every time you see a picture or a word(s) that you simply are attracted to...don't analyze...just post that on the board. Keep adding to it and eventually you'll see a pattern.
- KEEP A BOOK OF IDEAS. I have a small note pad in my car and another one in my purse. Every time I hear something interesting, I make myself a note. Sometimes I immediately incorporate these ideas into my business. Most of the time they end up in my big fat 3-ring "Book of Ideas" binder. I might run out of time, but I never run out of ideas.
