KFC will be adding Grilled Chicken to the
menu in 2009. A KFC press release reports that the
Kentucky Grilled Chicken will be marinated and
seasoned with a savory blend of secret herbs and
spices and then grilled to juicy perfection - with
between 60 to 180 calories and 3 to 9 grams of fat per
piece. Original RecipeŽ chicken has between 130 to
360 calories and 8 to 24 grams of fat. Kentucky Grilled
Chicken prices will be on par with KFC's fried menu
items.
Oatmeal seems to be getting popular.
Starbucks added Perfect Oatmeal last fall. Now,
Jamba Juice is adding oatmeal (at about 300
calories) on the menu this month.
Baskin-Robbins is launching a more healthful ice
cream called BRight Choices (indicated with a
pink star decal). It's a line that includes reduced fat/no-
sugar-added ice cream (with 25% less fat), dairy-free
sorbet, and fat-free frozen yogurt.
Pizza
Hut has introduced The Natural, a pizza made
with all natural ingredients. The tomato sauce is
made with all-natural tomatoes (and no high fructose
corn syrup), all-natural roasted red peppers, all-
natural pepperoni, and all-natural Italian sausage.

Last month, Philadelphia passed an
ordinance which requires restaurant chains (and
coffee shops, ice cream parlors, and convenience
stores) with 15 or more stores to inform their
customers about calories, saturated fat, trans fat,
carbohydrates and sodium. The law takes effect
January 1, 2010.
King County in
Washington State has just started posting
calories, saturated fat, sodium and carbohydrates on
menu boards according to a similar law passed
earlier.
And it looks like Massachusetts
might be the next full state (after California) to
pass - if the measure gets approved by the Public
Health Council.

Who's Dr. Jo? |

|
Most of you know me. Maybe you have my books, or
have heard me speak at a conference. But, if not...let
me introduce myself. I'm Dr. Jo and I've been
monitoring, writing, and speaking about eating
healthfully in restaurants since 1991 when I
published my first book on the subject.
But,
that's not all I speak about. All my programs are
designed to help busy people stay healthy, sane, and
productive. My most popular women's program
is, "What Every Woman Wants - great legs, more
energy and peace of mind." When I speak to
companies, it's often on, "How to Stay Healthy &
Fit on the Go" (also the title of one of my books).
You can find out more about me and my books at my
my website.
