Matthiessen

Dear Friends:

As a former guest of the Autograph Series -- in fall 1999 and again in spring 2007 -- I can enthusiastically recommend San Antonio's Gemini Ink. This "grassroots literary/literacy program" has inspired so many new readers (and new writers) and brought such distinction to the San Antonio community. The warm atmosphere engendered for the guest writers as well as for the audiences is truly unusual, indeed outstanding. What a great pity it would be if, in this recession year, Gemini Ink should be permitted to expire for want of the public support it needs and so fully deserves!

Sincerely,
Peter Matthiessen
Recipient of the 2008 National Book Award in fiction for Shadow Country (Modern Library/Random House, 2008)
