Upcoming Programs and Events

Greetings,

Brigid's Place has an opening for the Board Secretary position for the Board Term beginning 2011-2012.  The term is for one year.  The Board Secretary serves as the authority on past Board actions, organization policy and oversees Brigid's Place records:

The role of the Board Secretary is to:

  • Maintain knowledge of the organization and personal commitment to its goals and objectives.
  • In consultation with the President, prepare agenda for the Board Meetings and work with Brigid's Place Administrator to distribute agenda and supporting documentation to members prior to the meeting.
  • Attend all Board Meetings as scheduled, prepare minutes, and distribute to members (ordinarily meets on the 3rd Monday of each month).  The Secretary also maintains the official minutes of the organization.
  • Serve on the Executive Committee and attend Executive Committee meetings.
  • Maintain all board records, including formal contract documents, and organization information and contact information for all directors, and ensure their accuracy and safety.  Some of this information may be published in the Women's Journal and on Brigid's Place web site.
  • Set up procedures for any elections and record votes cast including supporting nominating committee regarding its activities and procedures.
  • From time to time it is necessary for the Executive Board to conduct e-mail ballots on important matters that cannot be delayed until a meeting.  In such cases, the issuing of the e-mail ballot and its recording are done by the Secretary as authorized by the President.
  • Prepare written employment contracts for any Brigid's Place employees in accordance with directions from the Board of Directors and Brigid's Place policy.
  • Assume responsibilities of the president or vice-president in their absence.
  • Provide notice of meetings of the board and/or of a committee when such notice is required.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the Women's Journal Editor and the Brigid's Place Administrator as needed.

The Brigid's Place Board is excited about the programs, events and services we will provide next year.  We welcome anyone who is interested in serving our community by working for this dynamic organization.

Brigid's Place is a 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Non-Profit Organization that supports the spiritual development of women. We offer classes, lectures, discussion groups, weekend workshops and retreats where people can ask questions relating to their spiritual journeys, address their doubts, and become empowered to meet the challenges of life.  We are named after St. Brigid, a fifth century Irish Celtic Saint who founded a monastery of nuns and monks based on the social concept of equality of men and women.  They were known for their wisdom, compassion, hospitality, and healing.
