Get Connected with Palatine Residents at Street Fest
It is that time of year again for the Village of Palatine to host their "Street Fest" on August 26-28 in downtown Palatine. The Chamber is looking for members interested in marketing their businesses at our booth at this year's Village of Palatine Street Fest on Saturday, August 27-Sunday, August 28. We have split up the days into two-hour shifts. We highly recommend participating because Street Fest provides an excellent opportunity to meet and network with hundreds of Palatine residents. During your volunteer shift, you will be permitted to display your business or company information at the Chamber's booth, and in return you also agree to help run a table size game. Anyone interested in signing up for a shift should call the chamber office at (847) 359-7200.

We are currently in need of the following items: Formula cans with iron (Enfamil Lipil) and all stages of baby food. We are encouraging businesses to take up a donation drive to help alleviate this shortage. Please contact Patty Branham, Baby Closet Manager at 847-359-4967 x38 or e-mail us if you can help. The 6th annual Art in the Countryside event will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011, 5:30 p.m. at Falcon Park Recreation Center in Palatine and features artwork created by program participants from the Palatine facility of Countryside Association for People with Disabilities. This year's unique pieces range from acrylic paintings to photography to "string art." The art will be auctioned off with the proceeds going back to the artists (adults with developmental disabilities) as well as funding future art shows. Historically, this popular event has taken place on Countryside's beautiful property, but due to a pending renovation and expansion it will be held at the Falcon Park facility of the Palatine Park District (2195 N. Hicks Road). Come out for a fun time; enjoy hors d'oeuvres and live music while taking in some art and meeting some wonderful people! For more information about this event or to learn more about how you can get involved with Countryside, contact Amy Barker at (847) 540-3706.
Our dear friend, fellow Chamber Member and chiropractor, (at Castle Chiropractic), Andy Schroeder, was recently diagnosed with ALS*, which most people know as Lou Gehrig's disease. There is no cure for this rapidly progressing, debilitating disease, but we hope for some kind of miracle for him. Although Andy is still currently working, his symptoms are progressing rapidly and much to his dismay, will soon render him unable to continue. Once that happens, there is immediate concern that Andy and Teresa's household and medical expenses are paid. In support of Andy and his family, we are planning our 1st Annual Golf Outing and Dinner Fundraiser with a silent auction and raffle on Tuesday, August 23, 2011. The golf fundraiser will be held at Hilldale Golf Club in Hoffman Estates, and dinner will be at Chicago Prime Steakhouse in Schaumburg . For more information on how you can get involved, visit this website.
