Totem Animals
Animal totems offer spiritual guidance. To best understand the lessons conveyed by animals that show up in our lives, we must learn more of their instinctual behaviors, and natural habitats. Is the animal nocturnal? Does it live in the desert or the tropics? Is the animal solitary or lives in a pack? What type of diet do they eat? Answers to these questions and similar questions will give you clues as to what message is being offered.

Fox Fox is a master at the art of
camouflage. Like all members of the canine family, they make
exceptional parents. The fox's keen sight and hearing make it an
excellent predator. Its tail serves as a balancing device when it
stands on its hind legs to peer over the tall grass in search of a
mouse, gopher, or field rat. It is a survivor, able to exist in the
unpopulated countryside. Its ability to be unseen makes it a superb
family protector.
Fox medicine involves adaptablility, cunning, observation, integration,
and swiftness of thought and action. These traits may also include
quick decisiveness, and sure-footedness in the physical world.
The Fox's ability to meld into one's surroundings and be
unnotices is a powerful gift when one is observing the activities of
others. This allows it to be the protector of the family unit. If
danger arises, Fox is johnny-on-the-spot. Great Spirit has honored Fox
with the duty of keeping the family together and safe. Fox accomplishes
this through the ability to observe undetected, without making others
self-conscious. Fox is always concerned with the safety of family
members and is an excellent tailsman for those who travel.
If Fox has chosen to share its medicine with you, it is a sign that you
are to become like the wind, which is unseen yet is about to weave into
and through any location or situation. You would be wise to observe the
acts of others rather than their words at this time. Use your cunning
nature in a positive way; keep silent about who and what and why you
are observing.
Its keen eyesight also has the ability to see movement
and objects on the very edges of the field of vision. Those with active
fox medicine can often see Spirit, and the beings "between worlds". If
this is an ability that you'd like to develop, practice at twilight and
call upon fox energy to help you. With fox's super-sensitive hearing,
you may also be able to hear Spirit.
It's tail is considered to be one of the most sacred parts of the fox.
While the actual body of the fox is very small, the mass of hair that
protects it gives the impression of greater bulk. Hair and fur are
ancient symbols for energy and fertility. Fox has two kinds of fur,
it's short dense undercoat and it's long stiffer guard hairs lying
above. For one with fox as a totem, hair is very important. If a change
is needed on certain levels, changing the hair to reflect this desire
helps to activate fox medicine and it's magic of shape shifting. The
changeability of the colors reflects change of the expression of the
inner force. A study of colors and their symbology would also be very
insightful. In general, the Red Fox is associated with sexual energy,
the kundalini, and the freeing of the creative life force.
The ears and tail of the fox have messages for you.
The ears help the animal to keep cool in the summer as they expel body
heat through the ears. If you're too warm, pull your hair away from
your ears; if you're cold, let your hair cover your ears. The tail acts
as a portable blanket to keep the nose and feet warm. Do you sleep in
socks? Do you always want something on your feet? The tail also says
that you have the ability to protect yourself from unpleasant and
uncomfortable situations and relationships, and can stay cozy and warm
with your own inner strength.
The fox also has a highly developed sense of smell, and you may be very
aware of smells, odors, and their subtle differences. And aroma therapy
would be a beneficial study for anyone with fox medicine. You are also
alert to unpleasant situations and/or danger because something just
"doesn't smell right". The study of aromatherapy may be just the thing
for you.
Sexually the sense of smell is one of their strongest
stimulants which has a big impact on the intensity of arousal for
people with fox medicine. Sexual energy is part of the kundalini energy
force within our bodies and is our most creative energy. An individual
to whom fox comes has a great capacity for sexual expression.
With Fox medicine you know instantly what will happen next. After
observing for a while, you will become aware of a certain
predictability in given situations and be able to quickly make your
move. Fox medicine teaches the art of Oneness through its understanding
of camouflage.
Much like the clowns in the rodeo, Fox can keep the raging bull from
stampeding a friend or family member. Fox can use silly tactics as a
brilliant comouflage move. No one could guess the sly power behind such
ingenious maneuvers.
Fox has long been thought of as a nuisance to farmers however the fox
is actually a great asset to farmers as the fox consumes a great number
of bugs and especially mice and other rodents. Foxes are mostly
carnivores (meat-eaters). Most foxes hunt alone. They are nocturnal;
they hunt mostly at night. Fox eats small amounts frequently throughout
the day which is significant for those with fox as a totem.
The fox has knowledge of underground things hidden from human eyes, and
this is shared with the dreamer, telling the dreamer of roots and herbs
that are healing and curing; fox shares the powers of swiftness and
cleverness as well as gentleness. In this gentleness, there is strength
and courage, as indicated by one of the songs of the Fox Society; "I am
a Fox. I am supposed to die. If there is anything difficult, if there
is anything dangerous, that is mine to do."
Fox is considered to be persistent, yet is gentler and less aggressive
than the wolf. Fox teaches us about feminine magic, but this does not
imply that it is a totem for women. Rather, both men and women who have
the fox as
a totem are being told to stay in touch with the feminine side of their
personality and character.
If fox shows up in your life it is a sign that you are to be aware of
the actions of the world around you. The world is shape shifting and
growing into new patterns all the time. Use the art of camouflage and
keep cunningly silent about who and what you are observing. After
observing for a while you will become aware of certain patterns of
predictability in situations and you will know what to do. Fox's
medicine of camouflage teaches Oneness with all.

Rock of The Week

Black Tourmaline
Tourmalines are said to enhance one's understanding, increase
self-confidence and amplify one's psychic energies.
They also are said to neutralize negative energies, dispell fear and grief, and
to aid in concentration and communication.
Tourmalines are also said to be usefull in relaxing the body and the mind, and
to help in the treatment of infectious diseases, anxiety, blood poisoning,
arthritis and heart disease.
Black Tourmaline: said to absorb and give protection against negativity from
both people and electrical & magnetic fields. It is also said to sharpen
one's wits, to enhance vitality and to give emotional stability.
Long thin crystals of
Black Tourmaline are common as inclusions in Quartz, forming the ornamental
stone called "Tourmalinated Quartz". This stone is unique with
its long needle to straw sized, arrow straight, prismatic crystals of pitch
black Schorl criss-crossing the clear colorless Quartz. Alone, Black
Tourmaline has long been used by shaman in African, Native American and
Aboriginal tribes. Native Americans used it as a protective stone against
negative spells...but when found included in Quartz, it not only
breaks the spell, but has been known to energize the "victim" and
actually enhance well-being! Used with Mica, Black
Tourmaline is said
to be able to return the "spell" or negative energy from whence
it came, along with providing a view of the sender of such negativity.
Working like a lightning conductor, Black Tourmaline dispels the negativity
and protects against harmful energies such as anger, envy, and greed.
Recognized as the
"Teller" stone, all Tourmalines provide insight during times of
difficulty or struggle and can aid in "telling" who or what is causing
the problem.
Black Tourmaline is
well-known and most valued for its grounding effects, as are Obsidian, Hematite,
Bloodstone and Smoky Quartz. However, for grounding of spiritual
energies Black Tourmaline is the first stone of choice; a gift of nature which
enables its human companion to route and receive higher energies from the Crown
Chakra down into the Root Chakra.

Home Protection Ritual Bottle Ideally, such a bottle should be walled up in a new home under
construction, or placed under the floorboards. If this is impossible,
simply place it in a position of importance somewhere in the home.
1 bottle with cork stopper
1/2 to 1 cup salt
3 cloves garlic
9 bay leaves
7 tbsp. dried basil
4 tbsp. dill seeds
1 tbsp. sage
1 tbsp. anise
1 tbsp. black pepper
1 tbsp. fennel
1 bowl
In the morning, ideally on a bright and sunny day, assemble all
items. Place the salt into the bowl and say: "Salt that protects,
protect my home and all within it." Add the rest of the ingredients,
one by one, saying the above phrase. Just change the first word to
whatever herb you are putting in next.
Mix together the herbs and the
salt with your hands and fingers, lend energy to the potent protective
items. Visualize your home as a shining, safe, guarded, secure place of
sanctuary.
Pour the mixture into the jar.
Seal tightly and place in
your home with the following words: Salt and herbs, nine times nine
Guard now this home of mine.

Love Fairy (Angelicae Amatae)
Most unsurprisingly, Love Fairies, also colloquially known as Stomach
Butterflies, only exist in couples. Virtually inseparable, the fairies
amplify feelings of companionship and trust in all the lovers they
pass. Rumor has it that one pair of Love Fairies exists for each pair
of Soul Mates in the world.

Haunted Omaha

I found this article on haunted places in Omaha. I thought it would be fun to share. Let us know haunted places that you know of too, not just Omaha, anywhere! We would love to share them!
Mystery
Manor is one of those commercially produced haunted houses, but there
are actually a handful of spirits that the town believes are connected
to the site. During Halloween, the manor is set up to greet the flow of
visitors. Rumor has it that a "lady in a blue dress" is encountered
during the haunted house tour, but no staff member is dressed as such.
The owners of the event have also noticed odd reports that take place
throughout the rest of the year. Additionally Omaha, Nebraska haunted
tales include:
Millard North High
carries the tale of a ghost who died while smoking a cigarette. The
significance of the tobacco comes when the scent of stale smoke is
detected in the air about the same place where a student died. By the
south doors, there is a hallway where all the janitors gathered to
enjoy their "smoking room," which was located downstairs. One day, a
student sneaked down to the room to have a cigarette, and while he was
smoking, he slipped on a puddle of water outside of the doorway, and hit
his head. He died instantly. Today, the area is shut off to the
students, but if you walk down the hallway, you can catch a whiff of
smoke and hear a crashing sound underneath.
In Omaha, the
White House Apartments were once an old hospital,
which is thought to be the source of the ghostly inhabitant on the
premises. It is thought that a female ghost in a long white gown
appears in the hallway - greeting some of the tenants who live on the
main floor.
The Omaha South High School is thought to be haunted by a ghost whose name is
Gus. Nearly three decades ago, a tornado drill took place at the high
school, where everyone was expected to shuffle into what was known as
the "Catacombs." Today, this is the part of the school that was turned into the performing arts section. During the 1950s, this part of
the building was built to accommodate a nuclear fallout shelter. While
the tornado drill was going on, Gus (a janitor who took care of the
Performing Arts part of the building), thought they were going to be in
the "Catacombs" for a long time, so he paid a visit to what was known
as the "Rat Room," where they kept provisions.
Gus closed the door
behind him and searched for a barrel of food, but instead, it fell on
him - crushing his head. His body was not discovered until he had been
there for a while. It is believed that Gus still wanders about the
Performing Arts part of the building. Despite being remodeled in later
years, some people claim that if you are attending a play in the
building, and you are skeptical about whether or not Gus exists, then he
will purposely mess with you. As an actor, the ghost will affect
your lines, cues, and even your entrances. It is also said that he
likes to haunt the Green Room, which is situated next to the Catacombs. Some believe it is he who leaves on the light and opens the doors.
Brother Sebastian's Restaurant
A
man named "Bill Wolcott", was a regular who dined every evening at
Brother Sebastian's. He was an older gentleman who dressed in a formal
smoking jacket complete with an ascot tie.
Wolcott had cancer,
but he was a loyal regular at Brother Sebastian's, and continued to
dine at the restaurant, even when he became hospitalized, and could no
longer swallow solid foods. The kitchen then pureed his food and took it to him.
He was oddly dedicated to Brother Sebastian's.
In 1996, there was a fire in the building.
Wolcott
has reportedly continued to visit Brother Sebastian's every evening.
The last report of a ghost sighting apparently happened on the night of
the grand re-opening of the restaurant. Apparently people have felt
someone "staring" at them. Witnesses have also observed a door opening
and closing on its own.
On more than one occasion employees
have reported that a candle, put out the night before, is lit
the next morning when the restaurant is opened.
Hummel Park
This
location has a dark history. It was once a fur trading post run by Jean
Pierre Cabanne in 1823. Purportedly, it was a Native American burial
ground. Currently, it seems to be a hang-out for local gangs.
The park spreads across 200 acres.
Devil's Slide is located on the far eastern edge of the park. This is the site of numerous suicides.
In
1983, a prostitute was murdered after being sexually assaulted in the
park. She was beaten to death by a tree limb and a bat. Her body was
later discovered in a ditch in a heavily wooded area of the park.
In 1992, 15 year old Jeremy Drake was murdered at Hummel Park.
A
12 year old girl, Amber Marie Harris, disappeared near the park on
November 29, 2005. On February 14, 2006, her backpack was found in the
park. Her skeletal remains were later discovered in the park in May of
2006.
There is a high level of paranormal activity at this park.
Trees bow over the road that leads into the park.
"Morphing
Stairs" are an intriguing feature of this location. There are stairs in
the park that lead to an area that has been recently used in rituals of
black magic. Each time a person ascends or descends on these stairs,
the number of stairs will change, according to reports.
There is a river running through the park. Rivers tend to be associated with spiritual activity.
There is a gigantic electrical transformer located nearby. There is also a radio transmitter tower at the edge of the park.
There is definitely a "heavy" feeling in the park.
