  • Greetings!

Summer is almost upon us and we are looking into the best ways to support you during this sometimes frightening time called "no school!" There is discussion of having weekly daytime get-togethers in different parks around the greater Olympia area and we will post those on the parent support group site as soon as we have details. If you have any suggestions please email us at info@wyattshouse.org!

    Think of Dad!

Can you believe it? Father's Day is almost here and you're probably still thinking about what to do for dear ole Dad! We have a fantastic suggestion which will help you find what Dad really wants and allows you to help us, too!

We have opened our own online shopping area to make life easier for you and to raise much needed revenues. Ordering online solves the problem of sending gifts to friends and family many miles away. You don't have to package anything and then run to the post office to ship it. It's much easier to shop online for gifts for those who live close by, too! No crowds... and online stores are open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week from the convenience of your home or work.

So if you are looking for gifts for Father's Day, or any other reason, please remember you can also help support The Wyatt Holliday Foundation at the same time. For every purchase you make through our mall, a portion will go to help our cause. Just click on the Donation Street image to start your Father's Day shopping for dad! The shopping area is also accessible from our home page.

Have a safe and enjoyable Father's Day!

    Make a Difference!

In mentoring a number of students from Pacific Lutheran University, they shared with us the sincere desire of others to help our cause in any way they could. We took this to heart and looked for opportunities which would be virtual and yet very simple.

One such venue is through an organization called "Just Giving" which hosts a web presence customized for an organization where individuals are able to set up their own grass roots fundraising web page, upload a picture, post the many reasons they wish to help us and ask that others help support the effort, either through donation or by creating their own fundraiser page.

Here is an example of what yours could look like, and you can choose whichever financial goal and time period you wish to reach. You can host an event and promote this as the means of giving or just work at it all year. Once you've set it up, simply let everyone you know hear about your desire to help kids with special needs. After that just add it to your signature option for email and you're set! The web page keeps track of donations and allows you to monitor how far you've come.

Please consider helping us help kids - set up your own page today!

Olympia Parents of Special Needs Kids MeetUp

Our BBQ potluck was postponed due to questionable weather and thus we held it on May 28th at Yauger Park. A few families showed but we enjoyed just being there, letting the kids play and talking! The kids zero'd in on a small ditch with pollywogs and became expert sports fishermen in no time. Firefighters from around the Sound were playing baseball and shared the covered area. This provided some fun conversation and water excitement for the kids.

Don't forget about our new monthly evening meetings "There's Hope" at the Thurston County Health Dept. The next one is this coming Thursday - June 9th. We do not currently have child care for these meetings so please make arrangements for your little ones.

Our next Saturday get-together is on June 18th at the Tumwater Timberland Regional Library and we'll focus on what's happening over the summer, needed support during school break and planning for future events.

    Golf Update

We are very fortunate to have very caring individuals in our community. In rescheduling our golf tournament we experienced a number of challenges, one of them being the dining venue following the tournament. By chance we stumbled upon the great people at the Olympia-Tumwater Foundation who are generously donating the use of the Schmidt mansion in Tumwater for the dinner.

Also great news... this event will be catered by Ramblin' Jack's Restaurant of Olympia! Personal experience promises a dining delight!
