  • Greetings!

Many apologies for the delay in this month's newsletter! Between travel and Spring Break the load of work has built up just a bit.

Much is brewing at the foundation! April is Autism Awareness Month, proclaimed by the WA State Governor, Christine Gregoire, and thus our focus is on creating awareness about the issues surrounding Autism, such as therapies, nutritional allergies and biomedical intervention, IEP's, advocacy, etc. If you are a parent or guardian of a child with Autism, please let us know how we can support you or connect you with needed assistance! So much is out there - you just need to ask!

This month's newsletter is sponsored by SensoryLinks.com - please visit their web site!

    Nutritionist Jumps On Board

Randy Mentzer, owner of Randy's Compounding Pharmacy, Certified Clinical Nutritionist and Compounding Pharmacist, was invited to become an Advisory Board Member with the foundation because of his vast knowledge of nutrition, pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements as well as general health. He agrees that our education is the first step in helping our kids and thus has agreed to construct a series of workshops covering issues surrrounding Autism. This may even be televised on Thurston County TV! We will send an email notification to our Events group as well as through the newsletter when the workshop structure and materials are ready for launch. Please help us welcome Mr. Mentzer to our family and support his efforts in creating health in the greater Olympia area!

    Watsu is a Splash!

Our Parents of Special Needs Kids families and newcomers had an absolutely wonderful time at the Watsu Aquatic Therapy demo at the Briggs YMCA on March 20th! Many were amazed at the gentle stretching an calming effect it left on their little ones and themselves. Two Occupational Therapists were onhand to observe the benefits this modality can bring to their chosen field. Other visitors were quite interested in what we were doing and seemed to appreciate the efforts our parents were making to help their children. Thanks to the efforts of Paul Avery, the Briggs YMCA is making this a permanent program starting April 3rd - every Sunday from noon until 1:00 PM, replacing disability swim but still inviting disabled to join in.

    Integrative Medical Approach

We are honored to host Liliane Bartha, MD as a speaker to our meeting this month. She has offered to assist our families by speaking on topics ranging from environmental allergies to Leaky Gut Syndrome to brain function within a variety of diagnoses. Please email info@wyattshouse.org with questions to be covered. Join us, won't you?
