Local Business Surveys   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In our on-going work to improve the economic climate in the area, DCEDC is trying to identify any barriers to business growth that may exist in Door County. We have developed a brief, 12 question anonymous survey to help us with the process. Please take this opportunity to share your insights to advance the business climate of Door County. The results of the survey will be shared with the public at a later date, and DCEDC will work with the appropriate entities to alleviate any barriers that are identified by the survey.

Additionally, DCEDC and the Door County Visitor Bureau are about to release the third annual wages and benefits survey of the Door County hospitality industry. The data collected will enable area companies to better understand the labor market and keep employee compensation packages competitive. The survey, which also includes questions on local food use by area establishments, is e-mailed directly to innkeeper, restaurant and retail members of the Visitor Bureau.

US Economic Census 2012

In November and December, more than 4 million American businesses, including 600 businesses in Door County, will receive 2012 Economic Census forms. Every 5 years, the Economic Census develops a comprehensive portrait of American business, from the national to the local level. Timely and accurate data are vital to effective public policy in our area. There are a lot of interesting facts from the last Economic Census, available about Wisconsin at business.census.gov. Examples there illustrate how Census Bureau economic statistics are used by local businesses for marketing and planning, as well as by government agencies and researchers. Responses to the questionnaire are to be returned by February 12, 2013.

Wisconsin Regulatory Review Survey
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In February, Governor Walker issued Executive Order #61 which requires all state agencies to work with businesses to ensure any existing administrative rules are not overly burdensome. Because business stakeholder input is crucial in this regulatory review process, the Governor's Regulatory Review Project Staff would like the opportunity to gather your input and opinions on the regulatory environment of Wisconsin. This survey is one opportunity to relay to the administration what, if any, regulations are hindering the growth of your business. The survey is directly accessible by clicking here. The survey will be available for completion until October 12, 2012.
