At the June 5 meeting of the Sturgeon Bay City Common Council, Mayor Thad Birmingham read a proclamation naming June 6, 2012 as John and Helen Collins Day in the City of Sturgeon Bay. The Collins' were recognized for the founding of C&S Manufacturing, their generous support of many local institutions and organizations, and John's leadership in the Door County business community. The late John Collins was also an inaugural member of the DCEDC Board of Directors from 1989-1995.

DCEDC Executive Director Bill Chaudoir joined Mayor Birmingham, City Administrator Steve McNeil and Jim Stawicki of Sturgeon Bay Utilities and the Door County Manufacturer's Association to present the proclamation, along with cookies and flowers, to Helen Collins, her family and the entire C&S Manufacturing workforce.
