Palmer Johnson Yachts
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Very good news for Sturgeon Bay and all of Door County came with the recent announcement by Palmer Johnson Yachts that they had closed not one but two contracts for new construction projects. The company, which has been severely stressed by the global economic downtown of the past three years, will begin these two projects immediately, recalling laid-off workers with plans to maintain 150-200 jobs for at least the next two years. The 215-foot yacht called Project Stimulus will be the largest yacht built by Palmer Johnson in Sturgeon Bay; it will have twin engines and six cabins with room for 12 guests including the captain. DCEDC has been meeting with state officials to pursue incentives that would benefit both Palmer Johnson and the local economy.
Blue Horse Bistro & RLF
DCEDC was pleased to provide Revolving Loan Fund program financing to the Blue Horse Bistro in Fish Creek for the relocation of the popular restaurant to their new location directly across from the Fish Creek beach. The Peninsula Pulse ran a very nice story about the business owner's hard work at securing the required financing entitled "Back In Business."
DCEDC administers Revolving Loan Fund programs for the County of Door, City of Sturgeon Bay and DCEDC Board of Directors, providing low interest financing for new or expanding businesses. There are currently 21 active loans between the three revolving loan funds. The Revolving Loan Fund balance for the three programs is currently $1.624 Million which is available to lend to eligible growing businesses. More information about the RLF program can be found on the DCEDC website.
