Coastal Byways Grants

Coastal Byway LogoThe Federal Highway Administration recently awarded $355,000 in grants to two Door County Coastal Byways projects. The Enhancement for Public Access to Lake Michigan is a project the Town of  Baileys Harbor is undertaking to restore and enhance Anclam Park for visitors and residents. The second project was submitted on behalf of participating Coastal Byway member communities and partners to allow the Byway to coordinate and better convey the Byway story. A master comprehensive plan will be developed with assistance of a professional firm. The plan will guide participant communities and partners in preserving, protecting and conveying our story through strategic placement of information kiosks along the Byway route initially, and then guide future projects that assist in conveying the story of our Byway in a variety of methods over the next decade and beyond. So far, the byway program has brought close to $1 Million to Door County.
