Haltom High School is hosting its annual Fall Craft Fair from  

10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Oct. 22 at the school. Haltom High is located at 5501 N. Haltom Road in Haltom City. Admission is free. Vendor booths are still available. For information, e-mail hhsptsa@hotmail.com. 

 

 

Birdville ISD will observe Red Ribbon Week Oct. 23-29. This year's theme is "Texans Give Drugs the Boot." Special events are planned district wide for each day.

Julie Wallace, Executive Director of Technology Information Management Systems,
Announces Retirement




Julie Wallace, executive director of technology and management information services, recently announced her retirement from Birdville ISD. She has severed BISD for more than nine years in this position. The district will honor her at a come-and-go reception from 4-5:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Fine Arts/Athletics Complex. The reception will be on the second floor. 



Who Will Win? Haltom or Richland?



"Can the Principal" is a friendly competition between Haltom and Richland high schools. During Can the Principal week, secondary feeder schools are encouraged to bring canned food to their campus in support of their high school. Who wins? The Community Enrichment Center's Food Bank.


2011 Texas Association of Bilingual Education Teacher of the Year

Stepfanie Romero, second-grade bilingual teacher at Watauga Elementary, has been selected as the 2011 Texas Association of Bilingual Education (TABE) Teacher of the Year. She is being recognized for her dedication to the needs of second language learners and for her outstanding leadership. TABE believes Romero's professionalism and expertise in the area of bilingual education will serve as excellent qualifications to compete in the NABE Teacher of the Year selection.

Birdville High School

The Texas Education Agency recently announced the selection of 2011 Birdville High School graduate Sarah Rollin's artwork entitled "Hamsa" to highlight this year's Gold Seal Collection on exhibit in Austin. This exhibit is a collection of student artworks from across the state that received a gold seal medallion, the highest award given at the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE). Rollin's artwork is featured on the promotional poster for the exhibit. Pictured with the poster are Birdville High School art teachers Eddie Brown, Ian Floyd and Shana Martin.
