January 13, 2012

Greetings!

Happy New Year and welcome to the new and improved Falcon!  We are sending this to you via Constant Contact and we are hoping that you find this new format cleaner and easier to read, especially those of you who check email on your smart phones.  We are still experimenting with this format, but hope to send this out once a week to keep you updated on all of the latest PTO news and school events.  We welcome any comments and suggestions you may have and hope you find the Falcon to be a helpful school resource.  2012 is going to be a great year!

Falcon Submission Procedures

Based on the new newsletter format, Falcon submissions must now include a brief write up of the event in addition to your flyer or volunteer form.  Your flyer must be submitted in PDF format only.  You may submit clip art to appear next to your summary.  Your write up will appear on the front page of the newsletter and your flyer/form will appear as a link in the text.   The Falcon editors do not write copy, so all materials must be formatted and ready to go.  Deadlines will remain the same.  Thank you for your cooperation.

The T/E Elementary School PTOs Present:  The Mobile Lojack - Tech Savvy for Parents

January 19th at 7 PM, Devon Elementary School Auditorium

Grab a friend for this must see presentation!  Katie Koestner is a national student safety expert and will lead parents through a tour of popular websites and their risks of use for children.  In exploring the technologies that have grown up alongside our children, parents will better understand how to protect them from possible addictions and exploitations.  Click here for a full description of this important program.

Thank You VFES Families

Thank you Valley Forge Families for helping make the Elves for the Elderly gift program to benefit Valley Forge Project REACT a great success!  Because of your generosity, REACT was able to receive 75 gifts for our elderly neighbors in need of assistance in December.  A special thank you to Jane Condi for running the drive and Mrs Narcisi's fourth grade class for taking the time to sort, wrap and label all of the donated gifts.  Thanks to Carolyn Swetkowski's "elves" who helped load and transport the gifts from school to REACT. Also,
an extremely warm thank you from Strawberry Mansion Learning Center in Philadelphia, who have received another 10 boxes of children's books with the help of Susan Guy.

All of your support in the outreach programs has been greatly appreciated Valley Forge.  Thanks for all that you do to help people in our community!
Gratitude Corner

Thank you to Dalia Osman for organizing a splendid luncheon for our faculty and staff that they enjoyed as they walked through the Wardrobe and in to the winter wonderland of Narnia.  Turkish Delights were enjoyed by all!  Thank you also to our many parent volunteers who created delicious dishes and desserts fit for kings and queens!

We are grateful to our winter club coordinators:  Adrienne Miller, Monica Moore, Angelica Riley, Stacey Alperin. Laura Wurzer, Michelle Wang and Janet Plastino.  Thanks for getting our great line up of winter clubs up and running.

Finally, we need to thank Wendi Ballas and Barbara Loewengart for moving the Falcon over to this new great format!
