Welcome to the Airhouses Newsletter
Hi There

It is five months since our last newsletter and where has the time gone!  We have been busy with lots of lovely guests from all over the UK and many different countries throughout the World.  Two of the most talked about things at Airhouses seem to be the wildlife and the night sky.

The Wild Life

Birds

During May, June and July we have a survey of the birds at Airhouses carried out by the RSPB.  We were amazed and delighted to find out that we have as many as 9 species classed as "high conservation concern" including the Song Thrush, the Lesser Redpoll and the Yellow Hammer.  There were a further 13 species which are classed as "medium conservation concern" including the Dunnock, Mistle Thrush and Willow Warbler.

Badgers

We have always had numerous sets of Badgers in Badger Wood which is away to the left on the road in.  However, we now have a set in the woods near the lodges and their early evening activities have been causing much interest.

Hedgehogs  A small family of hedgehogs have established themselves near the start of the Treasure Trail around the Totem Pole.  They can be seen in the late afternoon and are oblivious to the traffic but so far are surviving.  They are becoming very good at posing to have their photograph taken!

The Capercaillie at Airhouses

The Capercaillie

The Capercaillie opened on the 30th July this year and has been fully occupied since.  It is very lovely and is perfect for family gatherings, parties or just a relaxing break.  It is booked for New Year but Christmas week is still available.
