Public Relations & Advocacy
Economic Development Funding

WCEDC, as members of the Professional Developers of Iowa, partners within the region to advocate for tools which will allow companies to relocate to or expand in Iowa.  Warren County companies have benefitted from such tools previously.  Most recently, WCEDC asked Warren County's legislators to support a state allocation of $25 million for the Iowa Economic Development Authority to assist companies.

WCEDC encourages the readers of this newsletter to similarly contact your legislator to support this request.  Why is this so important? See an example on how IEDA helps business expand and locate in Iowa.

Target Marketing and Product Development
Warren County has several development parks on the move!

An independent group which owns the Scotch Ridge Business Park in Carlisle is being shown by Peoples Company. This park is being shown by Peoples Company.  The City of Carlisle has worked to extend infrastructure to this area and has leveraged a grant from the Iowa DOT to put in a road, which will be completed this spring.

In northern Warren County, within the city limits of Des Moines, Knapp Properties is showing the Southern Ridge Development, which has several lots available for commercial development. We have already sent an interested prospect information about this development in the first week that we have been aware of its availability.

WCEDC appreciates the relationships we have with real estate professionals, it allows us to help leads find the perfect location for them.

Please contact us to locate or expand your business in Warren County.

Warren County Leadership Institute Announces 2012 Class

The Warren County Leadership Institute started class in mid-January with 14 outstanding young professionals living or working in Warren County.

This year's class project consists of two programs. The first, the class is raising money for the Northern Warren County Fire Department, the only fire department in Warren County without city support and relies 100 percent on a volunteer staff. WCLI plans to help the organization fund new, individually customized, safety masks to prevent smoke inhalation.

WCLI also plans to help start the Warren County Necessity Pantry. This pantry, started by Warren County Public Health, will provided supplies for low-income women and children beyond typical government programs and aid.
