Looking For Something In Particular?
Customers of Rare Sportsfilms may have wondered from time to time if they could simply call us and order a title not shown on our list of offerings. In other words, have us restore a film onto digital media for them that is not available from any other source. The answer is YES! - In fact, many of the films we now offer were at one time requested by a customer who agreed to "sponsor" the restoration of a rare film of his choosing back to like-new condition! Many of you may not realize that Rare Sportsfilms, Inc. is the largest private collection of original 16mm sports film in the US...Although we have restored over 280 titles over the past quarter century, this is just a small percentage of the total films we own. We have films the public hasn't seen in 50-60 years which could be offered if restored.
Recently, you may have noticed the name Dan Geroni appearing at the beginning of some of our pro football offerings.
Dan has already sponsored a half-dozen of our more recent releases, including the 1964 NFL Highlights and the 1961 Minnesota Vikings (first year) highlights. After enjoying several of our regular offerings and then seeing a reference in our advertising materials, he called one day to make a special request. "Do you have anything in your library about the 1961 Philadelphia Eagles"? he asked. I talked to Dan again recently about that and he said, "I called you because I have fond memories of my Dad taking me to my first NFL game at Franklin Field, Eagles vs Giants in 1961, and asked about the 1961 Eagles. When you explained what was involved in sponsoring a restoration, and confirmed that Rare Sportsfilms could make a DVD on the 1961 and 1962 Philadelphia Eagles Highlights, I just HAD to do it! I had bought about 25 or 30 DVDs from Rare Sportsfilms before (mostly football), but when I received my first sponsored restoration, it exceeded my expectations! I'm very happy with that DVD, and since have sponsored several others - all top-notch productions. These special sponsorship DVD's take a month or more to get ready, but mine have been well worth the wait. I can get stuff made at Rare Sportsfilms that I simply cannot get anywhere else, the picture quality is THE best and the price is fair. It's also great to be able to simply call up and talk to someone knowledgeable at any time about rare sports film - have you ever tried to talk to anyone at NFL Films or MLBB"?
We at Rare Sportsfilms have had some interesting requests over the years. A few years ago, two brothers, Joe and Jeff Corbo called and asked if we had anything on the 1944 Cleveland Rams. Their father Tom Corbo was an offensive guard on that team. They were ecstatic and offered sponsorship when we told them we had a half hour film of a game at old Griffith Stadium vs the Redskins. We were able to make a beautiful COLOR DVD for them which we now offer to all of our customers. After more than a quarter-century in this business we know whether something is available and from where, or whether it even exists at all. Of course, even though we had something as obscure as the '44 Rams, we certainly don't have everything. But it is fun to be able to work with fans and keep surprising people with what we will be producing next!
Of course we at Rare Sportsfilms always welcome your calls about what all of us are interested in - old 16mm films on sports! Ask for Doak Ewing at 630-527-8890. |

Dear Rare Sportsfilms Subscriber,
At this time of year when we Americans take time to reflect and give thanks for the richness of our land and its many blessings, you are in our thoughts.
Our growing family of customers, business partners, friends and the many others with whom we come in contact daily have been the source of so much of what is good in life...the opportunity to not only earn a living doing what we love, but also to meet and interact with a wonderful community of people who share a common passion.
On Thanksgiving many of us will include in our celebrations the enjoyment of a slice of pumpkin pie alongside a slice of sports Americana -- collegiate or professional American Football!
Enjoy the games, as they also will pass into sports history to be relived in the future among cherished holiday memories.
Without you, our customer friends, life would not be as rewarding. Around our holiday dinner table here in Naperville, we will sincerely give thanks for each of you.
We wish you all - HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
