Greetings!
 | Merry Christmas!
Lalo, our Christmas Macaw |
Christmas time is here; are you ready? Do you have your birds wish list filled with Birdie Britches Bird Toys? You still have time to receive your order by Christmas if you place your order by December 15! Santa is ready!
Please remember to keep your birds safe during the holiday season. Outside doors opening often create drafts and also escape routes for flighted birds. Make sure the foods that are within reach are bird safe. The commotion of the season can be upsetting to some birds so a safe haven in a quiet room may be very welcome to that shy bird. And a special treat while in the safe haven is a new Birdie Britches Bird Toy!
We wish you and yours a safe and Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa and a Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Lisa McManus

Ask Gandalf
Q&A With a Wise Old Bird
MY FAVORITE THINGS by GANDALF
If Oprah can do it so can I!
- Pretty little girl Macaws.
- Walnuts, but must be cracked.
- My Britches. I said BRITCHES. I can play with them all day and snuggle in them at night!
- Never having to go into a cage...not for one minute.
- Sleeping in my snuggly blanket on top of the cage
- Did I mention Walnuts?
- Getting questions from my admirers asking for advice. Then I can show off, ahem.... I mean show my wisdom that I've gathered in my 70 some years.
- Playing with my toys...I especially like my Squiddy. I can chew it all day and it never gets icky.
- Chasing the little birds that live in my domain. I snap at them but not to hurt them, just to let them know who's the boss. ME!
- That wonderful soothing spray that my slave puts on me. It makes me feel so good.
- Hollering out the window at the neighbors. They look up at me and smile. I guess they are amazed that I'm so beautiful.
- Just plain hollering for no reason but to see how long it takes my slave to answer.
- Plucking my feathers....this is a real favorite of mine. If I just could reach around more I could be totally naked.
- I love carrots, corn, pomegranate seeds, cheese, grapes, apples and walnuts.
- Repeat number one.....all girl Macaws, no matter what kind.
- Repeat number two.....walnuts.
- Chewing anything that's wood....picture frames, and wooden toys. If it's wood I like to chew on it. Sometimes I chew up the ladder that goes from one cage to another and then I have a hard time getting across until my slave sees what I've accomplished and replaces the chewed-up ladder.
- Biting pomegranate seeds and shaking my head at the same time to make the walls look all bloody. It is very pretty.
- I like people who send in questions to me so I can answer them.
Well as they say in the jungle ARRRGGGGGHHHHH! Which means over and out! See ya next month but only if you send in questions to wiseoldbird@yahoo.com

The Squiddy is made of fleece strips that are held together at the top with an imaginative rubber duckie in the small and medium sizes and a PVC cap in the large and XXL sizes. Birds love to play in the fleece, preen it and snuggle with it. Some birds enjoy snuggling and preening a toy that is in its own colors, or species specific colors, such as a sun conure may like a toy in oranges and yellows or greens.
Fun for every birdie!! |
