I am a bleep

I know my life is short

In theory, I can be a bleep of a collective,

continuing to move and make corrections,

to heal those wrong doings,

created by our ancestors.

I know, I am a bleep of this collective,

I have the ability to make this theory real,

I am taking responsibility,

to feel, to think, to say, to do, to act,  to live TODAY, not yesterday,

it is OK.

Contractions and expansions come in pairs,

 just like Oneness.

The healing will continue

long after I am gone,

I am a bleep in this collective

It's worth it.

Issue 151 : 26 February 2012

Greetings!

Our Community Facilitator has been spending several weeks 'on retreat' in Thailand, re-engaging with all the diverse life of that wonderful country - including regular merit towards the Buddhist monks, as well as observations of the Muslim prayer cycle. It's on opportunity to remind you that the closing date for applications for this important role of Community Facilitator close on 1 March; unfortunately, benefits do not include free trips to Asia! Please do bring this vacancy to the attention of anyone you know who might be interested and encourage them to apply; we are looking far and wide for interesting applicants.

With blessings to you from Tim, and on behalf of all the staff team

Supervision special

Lady with flute NC
There has been a lot of talk about supervision recently. The two post-graduate events led by Robin Shohet have prompted clearer thinking about our supervision processes and requirements.

This has led us to clarify at least five areas in which we recommend supervision be available for both students and ministers:
  1. To provide regular and contracted supervision to seminary mentors as they support our seminary students through their training;
  2. To provide supervision to second-year seminary students during their period of providing spiritual counselling to first-year students and/ or others during their case studies;
  3. To provide supervision to OSIF ministers, via one to one, peer or group supervision options, either in person or via technology
  4. To provide additional and specific spiritual direction and support to a student, at the request of the seminary leader;
  5. To provide additional and specific spiritual direction to a minister experiencing difficulty, at the request of the community facilitator
The Community Handbook is being updated to include a new section which expands on these different facets of supervision. Whatever your current form of public ministry and/or private practice, there is lots of encouragement and support for you to engage in on-going spiritual counselling, direction or supervision. One interesting development is the encouragement for local groups of ministers to form peer-supervision groups. You don't need to be co-located: there are several Skype-based supervision groups being formed. And if you have the enthusiasm, we would welcome more ministers offering regular monthly open supervision groups similar to the current ones running in London, Warwick and Manchester.

Spiritual counselling and direction

We encourage all students and all active ministers to engage in regular spiritual counselling and/or direction.  Details of all the various processes (peer-based, one-to-one and group supervision) are available in the Community Handbook.  The list ofY2 students currently available for Y1 student counselling is now available. And the complete list of all our accredited Supervisors has also been recently updated.

Expenses and bursaries

The expenses policy and claim form has been updated to reflect Danielle's new address. Similarly the student bursary procedure has also been updated for 2012.

Miranda's next UK visit

Details of Miranda's programme in early June are now available.
