The great light
not of this world

There is an endless net of threads throughout the universe;

the horizontal threads are in space, the vertical threads are in time.
At every crossing of the threads there is an individual,
and every individual is a crystal bead.
The great light of the Absolute Being illuminates and penetrates
every crystal bead, and every crystal bead reflects,
not only the light from every other crystal bead in the net,
but also every other reflection throughout the entire universe.
(The Rig Veda)

iConnect
Issue 145 : 8 January 2012

Greetings!

A warm and heart-felt blessing on your new year.  As the excesses of the festive season recede and something we like to think of as 'normality' resumes, may you enjoy a time of peacefulness and be surrounded by an awareness of love and wholeness.

2012 promises each of us many opportunities - some we can foresee with anticipation (or dread), but most will arrive unexpectedly and affect the pattern and course of our earthly lives. Too much planning and we will miss the spontaneity of such opportunities; too much unreadiness, and they will pass us by. We are called to live in this moment, attentive yet patient, awake yet contemplative, ready to step out into all the events and opportunities that life presents.  As Robin Shohet said (in the context of supervision): "Being attentive without memory, understanding or desire (M.U.D.)"

May you experience this year as perfect in every sense.

From Tim, and on behalf of all the staff team

New year news update

Rev Carole Warren was recently interviewed by the Funeral Service Times and she made good reference to the services provided by interfaith ministers.  Also on the theme of funerals, Rev John Merrill has written a moving account of both marrying and then celebrating the death of an inspiring woman

Rev Rebecca Young is offering 100 free healing sessions to anyone seeking to resolve a personal issue, deepen their spiritual journey, or catalyse their ministry. Please contact Rebecca before 31 January.

We've recently updated the public information page on services offered by gay and lesbian ministers to the community. You might also want to check out the public online directory of Gay Ceremony offered by interfaith ministers coordinated by Rev Angie Alexandra.

Rev Rob MacLachlan has written and published an interesting article on the use of quiet and reflective areas in the workplace. This is an aspect of the work of another of our ministers engaged in the design of 'quiet spaces' for this purpose.

Our list of accredited supervisors has recently been updated with several new supervisors.

A TV company is seeking couples in a relationship that is disapproved of by parents or friends.

We hope to place the next order for Minister Photo ID Badges early in 2012. If you would like to order one, please complete and return the order form now (login required).
