Courage and vulnerability
spiritual foundation

We are living in a time where we each need a tremendous amount of courage - a fierce kind of attention and intentionality. The doorway is always through your vulnerability, the experience where you are open to the world whether you want to be or not.

Issue 141 : 20 November 2011

Greetings!

We are now in the full flow of the autumn teaching period, and many ministers across our community will be preparing for a busy end-of-year time.  We're also approaching the closing dates for the various posts and roles currently being advertised within the Foundation.  If you have experience or expertise to contribute - in writing, PR, marketing, training design journalism, social media or related fields - we'd love to hear from you. Check out the vacancies page.

Blessings from Tim, on behalf of the whole staff team

Gay marriage

The status of legal partnerships between same-sex couples has been much in the news recently as countries around the world gradually introduce more equality. Scotland is leading the way in the UK, with proposals to reform the law. They include provision for conducting civil partnership ceremonies on religious premises, and the introduction of both secular and sacred forms of legal marriage for same-sex couples.

As One Spirit Interfaith Foundation begins to adopt a more public stance of contemporary issues in society, we shall be responding to such proposals. With the help of several ministers in Scotland, and our LGBT network, we have drafted and submitted our response to the consultation in Scotland.

The government in England has announced that it will introduce similar (but less radical) proposals for consultation in spring 2012.

If you know of public consultations on other national issues of relevant concern to interfaith ministers please bring these to our attention - and help us draft a response.

Other news
We'd still like to hear from anyone interested in Healing who can draft a few paragraphs about healing services provided by interfaith ministers for our website.

Rev Levi Hall's personal story of the dramatic events in his life that led him to the Interfaith Seminary feature in an interview and article in Green Spirit magazine.

Thanks to Rev Felice Rhiannon who recommends two excellent online sources for prayers from a very wide range of traditions around the world. One site is edited by Andrew Harvey and sends you a daily prayer. These sites are posted in the Prayers area of the Ministers Resource Library (login required to prevent abuse of ministers' materials). We welcome your contributions to the Library.
