Dear Friends,
We are saddened to report that Trinity Episcopal Day School (TEDS) will not be able to open its doors for the 2011-2012 school year. For over thirty years, TEDS has provided high quality education and care for newborns through 5 year olds.
TEDS's enrollment has been affected by several factors:
1) Tulsa Public Schools now offers programs for 4 and 5 year olds
2) Some parents have fewer financial resources for their child's education
3) While signs are increasingly positive for downtown, the downturn in the economy has hurt enrollment.
The TEDs Board and the Director have looked at every possibility to make the school viable, but the gap between projected revenues and expenses for the coming year is too large. The School has a licensed capacity for 135 students. For the 2011-2012 school year, TEDS only has the equivalent of 38 full time students. This means that with required staffing ratios, the School would have a deficit of over $175,000 for next year. This amount is simply too much. Trinity Episcopal Church has been able to fund the annual operating deficits for a number of years but can no longer do so.
The School will continue to be open until the end of this current school year, which is July 31, 2011.
Sincerely,
The Rev. Stephen McKee Pat Woodrum, Sr. Warden Bob Scott, Jr. Warden
