A Prayer for Valentine's Day
"God of love, thank you for those that I love.  Let Your compassion, generosity, and power continue to shine in my life long after the flowers and chocolates are gone, that I and all who I love might remember that You love us, now and always. Amen."

Outreach and Community News

Iron Gate and the Brotherhood

The Brotherhood of St Lawrence and Trinity parishioners came to the rescue!

When Iron Gate put out a call for help after the blizzard, Trinity responded immediately and generously. Parishioners brought staples to replenish the grocery pantry and the kitchen. The Brotherhood pitched in to cook casseroles for Iron Gate's soup kitchen and to share with John 3:16.  The food was distributed as quickly as it arrived-in hot meals for Iron Gate's morning meal and in emergency grocery bags.

Please keep Iron Gate and the people we serve in your prayers and please continue to share what food you can.  The snow storm affected most social service agencies, closed the Food Bank temporarily and closed schools.

Thousands of Tulsa children depend on schools for their meals. This is why Iron Gate's Kids' Pantry is so important; we provide healthy, kid-friendly snack packs for families with children.  These include small juice boxes, fruit rollups, small cereal boxes, cereal bars and granola bars, fruit cups and pudding-no nuts or peanut butter because of allergies.

Pictured: Iron Gate's assistant cook Lily McGee was named an Honorary Brother by the Brotherhood of St. Lawrence.

New Books in the Bookstore:  Available now for  Marie Farnsworth's Sunday School class:  The Great Emergence by Phyllis Tickle.  Rooted in the observation that massive transitions in the church happen about every 500 years, Tickle combines history, a look at the causes of social upheaval, and current events to illustrate the exciting future that lies ahead for the church.  Also available:  The Heartbeat of God: Finding the Sacred in the Middle of Everything by Katharine Jefferts Schori.  Our Presiding Bishop explores our connections through the eyes of faith and "calls the Church to love our neighbor as ourselves and gives examples of how to do so."

March 24-27 Men's and Women's Cursillo Weekend

at St. Crispins

Cursillo (coor-see'-oh) is a Spanish word which means "a short course." Cursillo is a movement within the Church which is intended to help Christians know God's love and grace and to help these same Christians discover and live out their personal vocations in the world. The movement offers small group meetings which help us in our life of Christian Ministry. The movement also includes a three day weekend during which participants listen to talks by clergy and lay persons, and participate in worship, music, fellowship, prayer and other activities.

If you are a confirmed Episcopalian 21 years of age or older, speak with your local clergy about attending a Cursillo Weekend.  The weekends are held at St. Crispin's Episcopal Conference Center, located seven miles east of Seminole on Highway 9.
