Hi Everyone and Happy Late July!

Thanks as always for appreciating my newsletter and for forwarding it to those you think might be interested.

Starting September 13 and for four consecutive Monday evenings from
7-9, I will be teaching a class at the Unity Church of the Hills on Anderson Mill Road in northwest Austin. I have named it Happy and Healthy with Chinese Medicine: Principles and Self-Care.   As the title suggests, I will be covering basic theory and much practical  information as well.  Each class builds on the previous one but it is okay to come to each class separately.  There will be a "love offering" of $15 per class, proceeds to go to the church.

So, save the dates and let others know.  For more details see below.
I will provide a link in the next newsletter to the Unity website where you can register.  In the meantime, if you have questions, be sure to ask.

Okay then, lets all go enjoy the rest of our summer and be grateful that it is still green in Austin, Texas!  And, don't forget the value of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine!

Best to All of You,

Beth

Acupuncture, Herbs, and Allergies

Living in Austin, Texas, it will come as no surprise to you that allergies are a common problem I see a lot of.  From cedar to ragweed and from mold to house dust, treatments can often make the difference between misery and relief. Even Fox News seems to agree. For more info click here.

Happy and Healthy with Chinese Medicine: Principles and Self-Care

Have you ever wondered about the foundational ideas of Traditional Chinese Medicine and how you might put them to greater use in your everyday life to keep you balanced, healthy, and happy?  This four week class introduces you to the basic theories of this life science as well as to much practical information.  Theoretical topics include Yin Yang and Five Element theories, fundamental substances, and causes of disease.  Ear acupressure will be introduced as a self-care modality, and several simple patent medicines will be covered as well. There will be much information about diet and lifestyle issues and a lot of fun as well!  Of course I am biased, but I think this is valuable information we should all know! I hope to see you there.

Acupuncture for PTSD

Following up on a promise I made in the last newsletter, I am including a link here to an
article published in the Austin American Statesman regarding the military's increased use of acupuncture for the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Click here.  Also, here is another link to a website called Healing Combat Trauma where there are a series of related articles. Click here.  I am continually encouraged by the greater acceptance of this medicine in the larger culture!

I want to include this list from the World Health Organization in all my newsletters just to remind you of everything acupuncture and Chinese medicine can treat.  As a practitioner I know this is just a partial list, but it is official and great PR! To see the list again
