Meet Our "Star of the Month"

November's Star, Austin, was recognized as a self-starter, as a person of "great character all of the time," and for his active participation in class and other school activities. Most recently, Austin demonstrated his compassion by accompanying De La Salle teachers to the funeral of a former staff member's brother. This simple act of kindness meant a lot to family members, and to all of us in the De La Salle community - Thank You, Austin!
De La Salle's "Star of the Month" Program recognizes one student each month for embodying the values of Lasallian education, including excellence both in and outside of the classroom. The Star of the Month is nominated by staff and selected by staff and students. Each month, this exemplary student is recognized during our Star of the Month breakfast or lunch celebration.

Vickie Newton Shared Words of Inspiration

KMOV News 4's Vickie Newton visited De La Salle Middle School last Friday, and shared her story and words of inspiration with our students. She talked about her belief in the power of prayer, the goodness of God, and the goodness in each of us to help others. Watch her video on YouTube.

Last month, 48 De La Salle students traveled to St. Louis University to receive free dental health care, thanks to Give Kids A Smile. Give Kids A Smile started in 2000 to provide underserved children in the St. Louis area with much-needed dental care. This St. Louis based non-profit organization is the local and national leader in developing and implementing access to healthcare services. Learn more at www.givekidsasmile.org.
