City Manager's Message

Hope on Wheels 5K

Steve Hayman

I am happy to announce that the Hyundai Corporation of America chose the beautiful city of Rancho Santa Margarita to kick off their "Hope on Wheels Tour" to raise funds and awareness about childhood cancer, and to celebrate the lives of the brave children battling the disease. The City is working with Hyundai and other local business to bring this event to the City on September 5, 2011. This unique partnership brings back one of the signature, and very popular City events, the 5K Run/Walk on Labor Day supporting a most worthy cause.  Money raised will benefit CHOC Children's Hospital to help fund pediatric cancer research. Following the 5K race and walk, a Celebration of Life Family Fun Day will take place where children and race participants can enjoy food, face painting, carnival games and more.Hope On Wheels Logo

The City is honored to be hosting the Hyundai Hope on Wheels 5K in our community. Please take the opportunity to come out and enjoy the festivities, celebrate life, and be a part of something big.

For more information and to register, visit the City's homepage at www.cityofrsm.org.

Sincerely,

Steven E. Hayman

Avenida de Los Fundadores Crosswalk Improvements May Cause Delays

Construction to Continue Through August

The City is making improvements to the pedestrian crosswalks on Avenida de Los Fundadores at Pasada Valiente and Ama Daisy. To enhance the safety of pedestrians and school children crossing the street, the City is installing new curbs and ramps that will extend further into the street. Construction has begun and will continue through the first week of September, 2011.

During construction, access to and from Avenida de Los Fundadores, Ama Daisy and Pasada Valiente will be maintained at all times.  However, during the peak construction activities, there could be delays and traffic may be directed to utilize alternate routes. The contractor's work hours will be between 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For more information about the project, please contact the Public Works Department at 949.635.1805.
