City Manager's Message
Steve Hayman

Rancho Santa Margarita is in the process of implementing AlertOC for its emergency notification system. AlertOC is a county-wide system sponsored by the County of Orange. The system allows county officials to notify residents of county-wide disasters or emergencies and gives Rancho Santa Margarita officials the ability to communicate with its residents and businesses about local emergencies.

The system is pre-loaded with phone numbers that are in the 9-1-1 database, however, not everyone may be home during an emergency. I encourage all residents and businesses to register email addresses and alternate phone numbers with AlertOC to ensure that important time-sensitive information is received.  If you signed up with the City's previous system, One Call Reaches All, you will still need to add your information to AlertOC. You can register by visiting the city's website at www.cityofrsm.org or by going directly to www.alertoc.com.

AlertOC will only be used for emergency notifications. Visit the city's website and register for email newsletters and notifications by clicking e-Notify on the left of the home page to receive other important information and news from the city.

A test call will be conducted of the AlertOC system in late May to bring to light any unforeseen issues before an actual emergency. Be sure to add your alternate contact information to receive timely emergency information.

For those of you who have experienced our old system, please know that we believe AlertOC to be an improvement and it will be an enhancement to our ability to communicate to you. Please share your experiences with friends and neighbors to encourage greater participation.

Sincerely,

Steven E. Hayman
Dog getting vaccination Vaccination Clinic and Dog Licensing Amnesty
One Stop Shop

A one stop shop for vaccines and licensing at the next vaccination clinic scheduled for May 5, from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Bell Tower Regional Community Center. No appointment is needed; pets are treated on a first-come, first-served basis. Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers. Owners 18 year of age or older must accompany their pets.

The Orange County Board of Supervisors approved a Dog License Amnesty program to offer pet owners a break from being collared with late and back fees for unlicensed dogs. A representative from OC Animal Care will be onsite to renew, or license dogs with no worry of extra charges. OC Animal Care urges dog owners to take advantage of this special opportunity if a license is past due or has never been purchased. Don't wait - amnesty ends May 15.

Cash is the only form of payment accepted. AVID micro identification chips are also available for $30 which includes the registration and continuous, 24/7 lifetime monitoring.  Please visit www.scvvc.webs.com for more information on vaccinations.

Clean Sweep

Street sweeping not only keeps our neighborhood streets looking clean, but it keeps trash and debris out of storm drains and creeks.

To clean streets effectively, cars must not be parked on the street during designated sweeping days. If you are unsure of your neighborhood's designated street sweeping day, a list can be found on the city's website.

If you have further questions, please call the Public Works Department 949.635.1800.
