Greetings!

Looking ahead to the year is enough to get anyone who loves Tecaboca excited. It is Tecaboca's 60th year and The 250th Anniversary of the birth of Blessed William Joseph Chaminade, Marianist Founder, and we intend to honor our history well in 2011.  It is a perfect time for us to share our stories, to evaluate where we are, and where we are going. We plan to do this and more over the next twelve months. Read on to find out what we have planned, and mark your calendar to be involved!

Many blessings,

Kay

The Women We Come From
Exploring the Biblical Women, Modern Day Women of Distinction, and Women Who Have Influenced You

This is a weekend you won't want to miss. Come join new and old friends to relax, pray, and rejuvenate yourself spiritually in the beautiful and sacred setting of Tecaboca. Retreat leaders come to us from the Marianist Family Retreat Center in Cape May, New Jersey to lead us on this unique journey. The weekend begins Friday evening, February 4, and ends at noon on Sunday, February 6. Quiet visits in front of the fireplace, sacred time in the chapel and at the Cross, laughs and fun with friends. What more could a woman ask for? You will leave renewed to be the daughter, sister, wife, mom, friend, and individual that God calls you to be.

Cost of the weekend is $100, and you can register by calling 830-866-3425, or emailing Kay at director@tecaboca.com.

The Tecaboca Mission Will Move Forward With Your Help!

The mission of Tecaboca is to serve the church through the ministry of the Marianist family. Tecaboca will provide opportunities for spiritual development, leadership training, and community building for both laity and religious, with an emphasis on young people. Through preservation of its natural beauty,  Tecaboca will offer a setting for learning, retreat, and reflection for the people of God

Program
Tecaboca's programs can always use a boost through a donation of an item, or donation of funds to enhance what we do with our particpants. A ropes course, a new canoe, or introduction of a new program such as sailing or mountain biking are goals that we have, if support could become available. If these types of programs interest you, and you could help us out, give us a call!

Enhance the Facility

We are always in the hunt for bird feeders, lawn furniture, plants, or pots for plants. If you find that you have extras, or see that perfect planter for Tecaboca, send it our way!

We have a high need for new mattresses in all cabins and the Main House. For $100, you can help us replace a mattress.
Email Kay at director@tecaboca.com for more information on these projects!

Self Assess to Improve!
Last May, 2010, Tecaboca was the recipient of a grant from the OneStar Foundation to build capacity by engaging in a self assessment and ultimately a strategic planning process. A group of individuals representing boys camp, Life, Retreats, involved Parishes, and Family Retreats has been working with Dr. Rosalind Alderman of St. Mary's University, through the Peter Drucker Self Assessment Process. It's almost time for EVERYONE to have a chance to give feedback. Watch your email for an opportunity to respond to a survey to evaluate our mission, our performance, and chart our course for the next decade!

60th Anniversary Celebration at Tecaboca Labor Day Weekend

Make a plan to attend our Friends of Tecaboca weekend September 2-5, 2011. The primary day of celebration will happen on Saturday, September 3rd, but the weekend will be full of fun and friends, both old and new. Mark your calendar and keep it clear for TIME AT TECABOCA!

Leave a Lasting Impression on Tecaboca...Plant a Tree

Many of our oak trees are dying of oak wilt, a mostly untreatable and unstoppable disease marching through the Hill Country. We are replanting, and to date have planted 12 oak -wilt-resistant trees. This is a small fraction of the ones that have died and been cut down, or that will be cut down soon.  A $325 donation will plant a tree and purchase a plaque to leave a message for the next generation. Contact Kay at director@tecaboca.com for more information.
