Be Sure You Are Advertising Your Program's Accreditation Correctly!
CAAHEP Accredited, NOT CoAEMSP Accredited

All too often when reviewing a Program's Self Study Report or listening to people talk about accreditation of an EMS Program, the Program is referred to as CoAEMSP accredited or seeking CoAEMSP accreditation. This is incorrect. CoAEMSP does not accredit programs; it works under the auspices of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and recommends an accreditation status to the CAAHEP Board of Directors, who then makes the final decision.

If a Program has not yet been accredited by CAAHEP, the sponsor must make no reference to an accreditation status for that program.

If a program has CAAHEP accreditation, the sponsor must use the following language when referring to that accreditation:

"The [name of program] is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).

To read the policy in its entirely regarding the public use of CAAHEP accreditation status by Programs and Institutions, read policy 302 in the CAAHEP Policy and Procedures manual found here.
Site Visitors Needed

CoAEMSP is seeking Paramedic educator and physician site visitors.

If you would like to be considered, please complete and return the
application found here.

In addition to completing the application, please include a current CV and two (2) letters of recommendation to CoAEMSP.

To be eligible to become a site visitor, individuals must meet the site visitor qualifications, successfully complete  CAAHEP's Site Visitor Quiz, attend a Site Visitor Training Workshop (such as the one mentioned above), and be approved by CoAEMSP. Applications are reviewed at the February and August Board meetings.

Application submission does not guarantee acceptance as a site visitor. All requirements are subject to the discretion of the Site Visitor Subcommittee and the CoAEMSP Board of Directors.
