The Principals Next Door
The whirlwind of end-of-the-year activities has begun! We look forward to seeing you at any or all of the various events that we have planned throughout May and June. As we reflect on the many happy events and learning opportunities, we are grateful for every individual who has assumed responsibility for leaving a lasting impression on a child's life. While many culminating activities will transpire over the next five weeks, the rigor of academics and learning will remain in place until our closing on June 6th. The last days of school include a full day of attendance on Monday, June 4th, half day for records day on Tuesday, June 5th, and report card distribution from 9:00 - 10:00 on Wednesday, June 6th.
The 5th grade band will be performing at Palos South on Tuesday, May 8th at 7:00 p.m. The show will certainly be impressive on all accounts.
We will celebrate our Grandparents and Special People Day on Friday, May 11th. Please see the flyer attached to this letter for specific details by time and grade.
Wednesday morning, May 30th, will be the date for this year's Volunteer Coffee. A celebration of our thanks for all our wonderful volunteers will be held from 9:00 - 10:30 in our commons. Please stop by to allow us a final time to thank everyone personally for all you do to help keep Palos East a great place for kids to learn!
Additionally, as a school community we will recognize students at our annual Awards Assembly on Tuesday, June 5th beginning promptly at 9:15. We recognize our fifth grade Presidential Academic Award winners, our top three spellers from the Spelling Bee, our first through fifth grade Young Authors classroom winners, and various Physical Education, Band, and Choir Awards.
We wish all our families a safe and comfortable summer. Relax, read a good book, and enjoy friends and families!
Sincerely,
Karen Mrozek Robert Meyer Principal Assistant Principal |
