Thank YOU! And so much more...
Thank YOU!
We would like to send a gigantic Thank You to all of the supporters of Carol's 8th Annual Run of Love 5K held on Sunday, September 18th. It was a beautiful day--we thank Carol for that--and everyone had a great time. YOU are CAROL For Heart and we appreciate all that you do. Our sponsors, our runners, our joggers, our walkers, our volunteers, our cheering bystanders--you are what makes this day so special. We love that so many of you brought your whole family along. What a great example you are setting for children of what being healthy really means.
We would like to send an extra special thank you to our younger participants. These younger guys and gals participated in all of our kid events. They ran the kid race, hula hooped (by far the longest hula hoopers I have ever encountered); they were busy in the relay races and sack races and we met some future Phillies stars during the Wiffle Ball home run derby. They are the next generation of healthy hearts.
We are very proud of all our participants. For those of you who chose to have your run timed, the times are now posted with your bib number on our website. Please help us thank our sponsors; we appreciate their donations to CAROL For Heart. Next year will be our 9th 5K event, and we are already gearing up for the big 10th year celebration. (Can you believe it????) We would like to invite you, and a new friend to next year's 5K. Please help us spread the word on the prevention of women's heart disease.
Carol's 9th Annual Run Of Love 5K Run/Jog/Walk will be Sunday, September 16, 2012. |

Debbie's Pink Sneaker Diary -- "My Master Plan"....
News Flash: The Women's US Olympic Track Team will NOT be calling me anytime soon. I finally crossed the finish line at Carol's Run of Love 5K (3.11 miles) in 37 minutes, 42 seconds. While not a qualifying time by any means, I couldn't be happier because I had a master plan all along and it worked perfectly.
First, I took 16 weeks to finish a 10 week running program. Second, I waited one week before the event to change my well broken-in running shoes to new lightweight ones that caused a knee issue. Most importantly was third, I let the majority of runners finish well ahead of me so they could cool off, stretch, and grab a light snack before forming a crowd to cheer me on as I dramatically and triumphantly limped over the finish line with a huge smile on my face.
I am most proud not of reaching the finish line that Sunday but of sticking to my commitment to myself to continue to exercise whenever and wherever I can fit it in. It might not immediately show on the outside but I know IN my heart and FOR my heart I am making a difference in changing the direction of my health.
Hope to see all of you at our upcoming CFH events this winter focusing on heart health through cooking, laughter, and shared motivation to be healthier women, happier women!
P.S. Congratulations Debbie! Congratulations Debbie on completing your first 5K. Debbie wasn't our only first 5K runner out there; we had a lot of you running a full 5K for the first time. Many hadn't done a 5K in quite some time, but got out there again to complete it for Carol. We thank you for making CAROL For Heart the run you worked so hard for. We know your heart thanks you too.
