We're flying high - thanks to a successful April Menehune Contest

Greetings! 
 
We're basking in the post-event 'glow' of another successful Menehune Contest at La Jolla Shores in April. Great surf and abundant sunshine were enjoyed by all.  Check out our photo galleries to view all the surf shots, portraits, and candids of our volunteers, contestants, sponsors, and families hard at play and surf!. Please join us this coming Wed. May 23 from 6-8 pm - at the La Jolla Brew House to celebrate our Menehune event with a video and slideshow. We will also feature a presentation on our new Marine Protected Areas by WiLDCOAST.  Don't miss The Beach Boys special 50th anniversary tour concert next Friday May 25 at the Cricket Ampitheatre. We'll be giving away a pair of FREE tickets at our May 23 gathering!  Our surfing friends at Pacific Beach Surf Club are hosting their Annual Summer Classic at Tourmaline on June 9 and you're all invited to compete. Thanks again to our volunteers and sponsors who donated their time and in-kind support.  I hope you've been enjoying the phenomenal wind swell and perfect surf this past week at the Shores and hope to see you at our next event.

May 23 - Club gathering at La Jolla Brew House: Get to know your underwater parks!

 

You're all invited to our next club gathering this coming WED May 23 at the La Jolla Brew House at 7536 Fay Ave. in La Jolla at 6pm. We'll be celebrating our Menehune Surf event with a video and slide show the fist hour followed by a presentation with WiLDCOAST starting at 7pm.  FREE door prizes, including a pair of tickets to the Beach Boys concert will be given away. To help improve our ocean's health and preserve our coastal resources, California established a network of Marine Protected Areas or "underwater parks" in Southern California on January 1st.  Join WiLDCOAST and the La Jolla Shores Surfing Association as we explore San Diego's new establish Marine Protected Areas. Learn about the new protections, locations, the benefits to our oceans and to us, and way to get involved!

THE BEACH BOYS ARE IN TOWN - May 25!

We couldn't host our Annual Menehune Surf Contest nor raise funds for charity without all the fabulous support of our many sponsors, volunteers, and members.  They come through for us year after year by donating surfboards, surf apparel & accessories, and yes food - to our annual event.  Pictured at right are two kids from our 2012 contest enjoying Clif Kid "Z" Bars.  IF you know the boys pictured here - please give us a holler!  To view a list of all our contest sponsors, click here..and thank them by visiting their shops, and using their products & services.  Let them know La Jolla Shores Surfing Association sent you!
