Event coverage to be featured on local iTV!
Are you ready to see yourself on TV? Well, My Local Lineup is covering the La Jolla Shores Menehune Contest, seeking not only to document all the fun and surf but also some of the greatest local talents in the lineup. If you think you have what it takes to shine in the limelight, don't be shy of approaching some of their cameramen and asking them to film you. Besides capturing some great talent - our local kids - we'll be looking to provide a great show that focuses on family fun at our great beach, and the role La Jolla Shores Surfing Association plays in hosting a first class event, together with our sponsors, and raising money for local charities.
You can find My Local Lineup online at http://mylocallineup.com and on television in San Diego County on iTV San Diego, channel 16 on both Time Warner and Cox Cable. Our surf contest will be aired on iTV later in May or early June and we promise to keep you posted. Stay tuned! |

Last Call for Sign Ups!

Greetings!
Our contest deadline is approaching and it's time to get your kids signed up for our 2011 Annual Menehune Contest at La Jolla Shores on Saturday, April 16. You may register online using PayPal; or download an entry form and mail (click here). We've got a great day of fun for the entire family - bring your friends and enjoy cheering on your favorite surfer! Kids will be competing in longboard, shortboard, and novice divisions, ages 18 & under. Our Super Menehunes (age 6 & under) are not judged and surf at the end of the day, with their parents helping push them into waves.

FREE coffee and donuts will greet you as the first heats get underway at 7a.m., and our fabulous BBQ lunch, raffle, and silent auction featuring lots of great prizes will keep you stoked all day long. We've got surfboards, skateboards, apparel, gift certificates, vacation getaways, and more! Our goodie bags are brimming with surprises, and if your child makes the finals, he/she will take home a wonderful hand hewn wooden trophy. Surf + Art Contest on Exhibit at La Jolla Riford Library through April
 Our Grand Prize winner of our annual surf-inspired art contest is Christian Gimber of La Jolla High whose art is pictured at left. His arwork will adorn our 2011 contest t-shirts. The top 40 entries from area middle and high schools, will be on display at the La Jolla Riford Library and Youth Annex during April at 7555 Draper Avenue, La Jolla, 92037. Many thanks to all our participating schools, art teachers, and art students whose creativity inspired all of us! Congratulations to our other top winners: Sandra Metzner (2nd) and Brittany Kolatzny (3rd) of University City High School, Cullen Luckett (4th) of Mission Bay High School, and Sergio Diaz (5th) of Muirlands Middle School. |
Volunteers Welcome! We depend on volunteers to help us host a successful contest - we've still got work to be done, so consider volunteering. We use volunteers for everything - setup, judging, tallying, registration, BBQ, raffle booth, and cleanup.
