APRIL 17, 2010: Gathering of the Crew
& 10th Annual Menehune Surf Contest
 Greetings!
Did you ever wonder about the "Gathering of the Crew" part of our contest title? It pays homage to the early days of this contest which originated as an intraclub contest for members....we still like to get out there and compete against one another while we've got the beach and water setup for the day...so get on down to Dave's truck and pick up a member's application to participate in this fun portion of the contest just for you. The fee is only $40 and yes, you get an awesome t-shirt and trophy for your efforts; more importantly you get bragging rights for your age division....  Grand Prize Winner - Art Contest
Library Art Show during April
It's official - our grand prize winner is Christopher Barraza of University City High School whose art is pictured at left. With support from our art contest sponsor ando and friends, he'll win $100 cash prize and his winning design will adorn our 2010 Menehune Contest t-shirts.
Christoper's artwork, together with the top 40 entries from area middle and high schools, will be on display at the La Jolla Riford Library and Youth Annex during April at 7555 Draper Avenue, La Jolla. Many thanks to all our participating schools, after school programs and art teachers who support this contest!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: PLEASE SIGN UP FOR A JOB!
We depend on all of you to help us host a successful contest - we've still got work to be done, so consider volunteering. Our next contest meeting is this WEDNESDAY, March 24, 6:30 p.m., at the La Jolla Recreation Center. Our final volunteer meeting will be at the La Jolla Brewhouse, Thursday, April 15, at 6pm. Celebrate finishing your taxes AND come gather at this final meeting of the judges and other volunteers. The first round of beer is on us! We use volunteers for everything - judging, tallying, registration, setup, cleanup, BBQ, raffle booth, and event promotion.
