Hello Friend of Kelmann,

It's been a wacky winter in Wisconsin. Mild temperatures and lack of snow have made it feel like a five month autumn. The good news for home and business owners is the cold spells that typically cause pipes to freeze and break have been virtually nonexistent. So as we turn the corner and head for warmer seasons, all of us at Kelmann stand ready to help our customers when they are in need of help due to spring wind and rain events. Be sure to check out our article below which contains valuable risk management information for business owners and managers. Now read on and, by the way, think spring!

Congratulations Connie Dues!
Booth Connie Dues of Racine was the winner of the Brewer ticket giveaway that we held at our booth at this month's Milwaukee NARI Spring Home Improvement Show. Connie's name was drawn from hundreds of entries obtained at the four day show held at the State Fair Park Expo Center. Connie will receive 4 tickets, right down on the field, next to the 3rd base dugout, parking and NYCE Club passes to a Milwaukee Brewers game.  We do expect 2012 to be a championship season, by the way! As usual, the NARI show was an amazing success as we spoke to thousands of show attendees about the services Kelmann Property Restoration offers.  It's fun to meet and make new friends and always humbling to speak with our many happy past customers as well.
A Good Sunday Dinner Gone Bad....
Burnt food Envision a Sunday chicken dinner simmering on low temperature on your stove top. The phone rings, you step away and completely forget about the family meal. Upon returning, your Chicken Supreme is now a big lump of charcoal. The odor is unpleasantly pungent.  After many attempts at deodorization and internet "self help" remedies, the odor continues to linger.
Unlike typical kitchen fires, protein fires produce very little smoke residue. The low level heat reduces animal fats and proteins to a fine mist leaving a clear, almost invisible film on surfaces throughout your living space. Due to the lack of visual residue, protein fires are one of the most frustrating types of fire damage.
Standard odor removal processes are seldom effective with this type of odor.  Because the burned substance is consumed slowly, residue  penetrates deeply into every type of surface.  All impacted materials must be cleaned with great detail, utilizing cleaning agents made specifically for the type of residue. Often times, sealants or painting may be required.
Experienced restorers understand that a progression of steps must be taken until the problem is resolved. These steps, sometimes administered through trial and error methods, are an essential part of solving the protein problem.
