Wisconsin's Premiere Fire and Water Restoration Contractor

Since 1973

Hello Friend of Kelmann,

Spring appears to be sneaking towards us, and not too soon. While we at Kelmann are as hardy as any of our fellow Wisconsinites, we've about had it with this cold and snow. There are a lot of positive things happening at Kelmann these days. Work is steady, our technicians are training hard at perfecting their skills, our first responders are continuing to upgrade their education and our fleet and inventory of mitigation equipment continues to be upgraded to keep Kelmann at the industry forefront. So please take a moment and browse through these articles which we hope, are interesting, insightful and perhaps even amusing.  And remember, Think Spring!

Kelmann Presents at Restoration Industry Summit
Friedens Stained GlassKelmann's Dave Schultz presented our award winning, "The Restoration of Friedens Church" to the Restoration Industry Association Leadership Summit and Industry Expo In Colorado Springs last week. Held at the Broadmoor, this was our industries premier event of 2011. Most of the influential leaders within the field of restoration were on hand at this summit. Kelmann won the coveted Phoenix Award for this project in 2003. It's one of a record four RIA Phoenix Awards that Kelmann has won. We were honored to be asked to present the project as part of a seminar titled, "Phoenix Awards, The Winner Circle." Dry Ice Blasting??  Really... Blasting with Ice?
ice blastingYep. One of the methods Kelmann uses for cleaning is media blasting.  We have the equipment and training to utilize numerous blasting media including: sand, baking soda, sponge and dry ice.  We regularly blast with tiny dry ice pellets when dealing with large scale mold clean-ups. These rice-like pellets are propelled at very high velocity onto the substrate material, usually wood. The dry ice, which isn't really ice but frozen  carbon dioxide, is relatively soft and just scours a very thin layer of the wood.  The dry ice then sublimates. That means it turns from a solid to a gas. The clean up is thus, very minor. Essentially all your blasting media cleans up itself.  Only minor dust is dealt with and much of that is cleaned up via HEPA air scrubbers which we use on all mold work.  Want to see a video of how it works?  Click here, sit back and enjoy 3:45 of Kelmann ice work!
DKI's Rick Bowers Pinnacle Award to Kelmann

The Rick Bowers Pinnacle Award for Excellence in Disaster Restoration is given annually in

recognition of the long service to DKI of Rick Bowers, who passed away in 2005. The award is given to a DKI member company that, in the prior twelve months, completed the best restoration project as judged by its peers, demonstrating the level of skill, commitmBowers Awardent and excellence that Bowers brought to every project. This year's winning project awarded to Kelmann Corporation was for the repair of damage to a Serbian Orthodox Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. An electrical fire started in the floor and spread up the walls, causing damage to the basement, roof, first floor sanctuary and stained glass windows. The water used for fire suppression further damaged the 100 year old church.  "We were pleased to present this award to Kelmann Corporation this year," said Dale Sailer, president of DKI. "It expertly handled the job to the satisfaction of the customer and demonstrated the high level of quality and dedication that DKI Member Companies are known for in the restoration marketplace."
