2010 Primary Election Results
Although slightly higher than recent years, turnout was light in the Primary where 27% of registered voters went to the polls statewide. There were very few races on the Democratic ballot and it was an off-year election with the highest profile race on the Republican ticket being the 1st Congressional District. It is interesting to note that in several rural areas of the state six incumbents lost in the Primary and we saw social media playing an increasing role.
Results in Ada County for REALTORŪ endorsed candidates are as follows:
District 2 Commissioner, Rick Yzaguirre - won District 3 Commissioner, Fred Tilman - lost County Assessor, Robert McQuade - won County Clerk, Chris Rich - won Governor - Governor Butch Otter (R) - won Lieutenant Governor - Lieutenant Governor Brad Little (R) - won US Senator - Senator Mike Crapo (R) - won US Representative, District 2 - Congressman Mike Simpson (R) - won State Controller - Donna Jones (R) - won District 14 Representative, Position B - Mayor Nate Mitchell (R) - lost District 15 Representative, Position B - Representative Max Black (R) - won District 18 Senator - Dean Sorensen (R) - lost District 21 Senator - Senator Russ Fulcher (R) - won District 21 Representatives, Position B - Representative Clifford (Cliff) Bayer (R) - won

New home sales and factory orders rise
By Martin Crutsinger updated 9:50 a.m. MT, Wed., May 26, 2010 WASHINGTON - Orders for large manufactured goods rose sharply last month while sales of new homes surged with help from government incentives, giving the economic recovery a jolt in April. Demand for commercial aircraft lifted requests for durable goods 2.9 percent last month, the Commerce Department said Wednesday. That was the best showing in three months and more than double expectations. A separate report from Commerce showed new single-family homes jumped 14.8 percent. |

Congress Abandons Critical Housing Programs - Again
Realtors have been urging Congress to pass a comprehensive National Flood Insurance Program reform bill all year. We conducted a Call for Action in April, testified at Congressional hearings and urged action during our midyear hill visits. Yet once again, Congress left town before reauthorizing the NFIP and the Section 502 Rural Housing Program. As a result, thousands of transactions have come to a stop, again
The NFIP and the Section 502 Rural Housing Program are critically important to Americans and the U.S. economy. The real estate recovery can't afford prolonged Congressional inaction.
Regardless of your location, rebuilding our markets in every corner of America is in every Realtor's interest. The Realtor Party must speak with one voice to urge Congress to renew both NFIP and the Rural Housing 502 program today. Please contact Congress today.
