His exhibition will remain up until December 14, 2010
Mr. Pizarek graduated from Saint Mary's High School (now Marquette Catholic High School) in 1956. He served in the United States Marine Corps. His professional life included being employed by JOSAM in Michigan City for twenty years. Initially he worked in the machine shop. Mr. Pizarek enrolled in drafting classes at Purdue University, and later he was promoted to an office position as a draftsman. For nine years Mr. Pizarek owned the Lake Michigan Tackle Shop on Franklin Street. He is now retired and fills his time oil painting in his studio located in his Michigan City home.
The paintings that will be exhibited at Marquette Catholic High School reveal Mr. Pizarek's rich imagination as a self-taught oil painter. His 24" by 18" canvases feature a variety of subjects including portraits, landscapes, and more experimental images. He has sold many of his visionary paintings over the years.
Mr. White states, "We are proud to share our new Art Exhibition Gallery with our alumni. This gives them an opportunity to share their talents and artwork with their alma mater, our current students and the community. Nowadays so many schools have to make reductions in their Arts offerings while we are growing and expanding ours. Visual and Performing Arts are such an important piece in creating a well-rounded, culturally educated young adult. Challenging students academically, socially and spiritually can only be achieved when we expose our students to a variety of cultures, mediums and experiences."
