The Daily 25 May 2010 FEAST of SAINT BEDE the VENERABLE
| Though his History is the greatest legacy Bede has left us, his work in all the sciences (especially in Scripture) should not be overlooked. During his last Lent, he worked on a translation of the Gospel of St. John into English, completing it the day he died. But of this work "to break the word to the poor and unlearned" nothing remains today. |

The deadline for students to turn in their documentation for our required yearly service hours has passed (May 1). Many students are already serving their community for next years' required 25 hours of service. We have managed and processed those hours for graduating seniors. This week, we will be sending out notices for freshmen-juniors who have not met their 2009-2010 service expectation.
Students who have not completed their required hours and turned in their documentation by next week will begin serving "additional" hours at school on May 26th starting at 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and May 27th until 10 additional hours are completed. The hours remaining for this year will be added to next years' requirement. Students will not be permitted to participate in extra-curricular activities (summer workouts) until all hours are managed and brought up to date. We are hoping our newly revised service portfolio, scheduled for implementation next year and currently available at (Service Learning Portfolio & Service Learning Verification) will assist in the timely completion of students' service hours. Please contact our Office of Academic Affairs for more information.

Youth Day of Caring 2010 We are closing in on
the end of the school year and it's time to recruit our High School teams for
this year's Youth Day of Caring that will be held on Saturday morning, August
28, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until Noon. The event will be held at the Indiana Lakeshore

team members after they agree to participate or let us know now how many will be
on their team. We will connect with the team leader, later, to get the t-shirt
sizes needed for their team.
This year we are "raising the bar" hoping to engage more than the 300 volunteers that participated last year. YOU can be a Youth Day of Caring Champion. Click here or more information.
Contact them before the end of May to confirm your team's participation and the team captain's contact information and approximately how many will be on their team. Any questions please call: 219.405.8348. |

With Prayerful Thoughts
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this
vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy
toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of
thy womb, Jesus, O merciful, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Amen.
Please pray for: Joyce Scully Sara Rusboldt '05 Mary Quinlan Amy Esmoer '86 Renbarger Mary Lou Meell Colleen Kennedy Shirley White |
