FEAST of OUR LADY of FATIMA
The message of Fatima is simple:  Pray.  Unfortunately, some people-not Sister Lucia-have distorted these revelations, making them into an apocalyptic event for which they are now the only reliable interpreters.  They have, for example, claimed that Mary's request that the world be consecrated to her has been ignored.  Sister Lucia has agreed that Pope John Paull II's public consecration in St. Peter's Square on March 25, 1984, fulfilled Mary's request.  the Congregation for the doctrine of the Faith prepared a June 26, 2000, document explaining the "third secret".

Mary is perfectly honored when people generously imitate her response "Let it be done to me as you say" (Luke 1:38).  Mary can never be seen as a rival to Jesus or to the Church's teaching authority, as exercised by the college of bishops united witht eh bishop of Rome.

Mission:  Marquette Catholic High School is a Catholic educational community that promotes a college preparatory curriculum rooted in the Gospel values of peace, freedom, love and justice. We afford students opportunities to develop a personal relationship with Jesus and a love for His Church. We challenge students academically, socially and spiritually.

Vision:  The Choice for High School Education

Core Values: Faith, Honesty, Leadership, Respect and Service
Service Learning
united way
The deadline for students to turn in their documentation for our required yearly service hours has passed (May 1).  Many students are already serving their community for next years' required 25 hours of service.  We have managed and processed those hours for graduating seniors.  This week, we will be sending out notices for freshmen-juniors who have not met their 2009-2010 service expectation.

Students who have not completed their required hours and turned in their documentation by next week will begin serving "additional" hours at school on May 26th starting at 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and May 27th until 10 additional hours are completed.  The hours remaining for this year will be added to next years' requirement.  Students will not be permitted to participate in extra-curricular activities (summer workouts) until all hours are managed and brought up to date.  We are hoping our newly revised service portfolio, scheduled for implementation next year and currently available at
(Service Learning Portfolio & Service Learning Verification) will assist in the timely completion of students' service hours.  Please contact our Office of Academic Affairs for more information.
The Sister M. Cyril Dubala Awardanna grabovac

Mr. James G. White, Principal of Marquette Catholic High School, announced today that Ms. Anna Grabovac, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Jim Grabovac is the 2010 recipient of this award.  Anna is currently an 8th grader at St. Patrick's School in Chesterton, Indiana.

The Sister M. Cyril Dubala Scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman who achieves the highest score on Marquette's entrance exam - when taken on the first sitting.  The award is a $1500 non-renewable scholarship credited to the student's tuition for their freshman year.

Mr. White states, "Sister Cyril taught in Marquette's science department for many years.  She has a quiet intelligence about her - somewhat humble and loved teaching and working with students.  These are adjectives that also could describe Anna.  Therefore, it was more than appropriate that she is the recipient of this award and we anticipate great things from her.

Marquette's Class of 2014 is an exciting and excited group of kids coming in to our school and we are proud to welcome them into the Marquette family."

Youth Day of Caring 2010youth day of caring
We are closing in on the end of the school year and it's time to recruit our High School teams for this year's Youth Day of Caring that will be held on Saturday morning, August 28, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until Noon. The event will be held at the Indiana Lakeshore again and we are adding projects at the Dunes State Park , as well. Right now we are looking for team commitments with a team contact (with their contact info of choice-text their cell phone or send an email). This captain can recruit their team members after they agree to participate or let us know now how many will be on their team. We will connect with the team leader, later, to get the t-shirt sizes needed for their team.

This year we are "raising the bar" hoping to engage more than the 300 volunteers that participated last year.  YOU can be a Youth Day of Caring Champion.

Contact them before the end of May to confirm your team's participation and the team captain's contact information and approximately how many will be on their team.  Any questions please call: 219.405.8348.
