Greetings!

We hope you all had a wonderful summer. This is our first Newsletter of the season. As you all know by now, all newsletters will be delivered ELECTRONICALLY. If you would like to receive additional copies at other addresses, simply click on the JOIN OUR LIST link and complete the request. REMEMBER... we no longer MAIL any communications out. So, if you know someone that says they are not receiving anything from the club, remind them to either go to the website and sign up for communications, or call Vivian at (262) 781-7506 to be placed on the SNAIL MAIL list so they can still receive a "printed" copy of all communications.

Your comments and questions are welcome.

Bob T  PRESIDENTS CORNER by

Bob Turowski, President

As our ski club is rapidly finalizing our annual membership changes, I'd like to welcome all our new members and to welcome back our long standing members for yet another ski season.  While it's nearly impossible to predict the weather we'll experience this ski season, I'm confident that our enjoyment at Ausblick will remain as in the past. Mother nature may not always co-operate with General Manager Dennis Evinrude and staff, however it's rare that we at Ausblick have less than near perfect ski conditions out on the hill, and a warm lodge to socialize with families and friends in between runs.

For the new members this year, our "Orientation dates" are scheduled and we encourage all new members to attend one of the 90 minute sessions.  Information regarding club policy, expectations, use of facilities, etc. are all covered by current Club Board Members. For families unable to arrange for child care, we plan to have someone on-site to insure parents can participate while children are cared for.  Most importantly, these sessions allow new members to get questions answered, followed by an opportunity to have your Ausblick I.D. card issued. Dates for this falls orientations are: Nov. 27, 2011 1:00-2:20pm and Dec. 7, 2011 6:30-8pm. Please set time aside to attend one session.

Dennis and staff are in full swing performing pre-season activities, as are the Ski Patrol and in the near future our Ski School. You will also notice our chairlift has been painted and upon reaching the top, take in the progress towards our Long Range Plan as work continued throughout the off season.  While the area to the west side of our property will NOT opened to skiing this season, it certainly is not the same as it was this past March.  Curious?? You'll have to check it out for yourself in the coming months.

Ausblick's Annual Ski Swap was held this past weekend. Weather was perfect for the event; with many improvements in place after last year's record attendance and long lines. With the assistance of several member volunteers, Board Members and Club staff, the nearly 500 in attendance were able to select items and checkout in record time. You had to be there last year and this year to fully appreciate the improvement.  In addition to the event improvements, this year "The Barbeque Co." from Oconomowoc  was available for food and beverage while members and friends soaked up the sun and renewed friendships.

Kind of makes you look forward to colder weather????  Maybe not for a few week yet. Enjoy the Fall and look forward to Winter, Family, Friends and Memories to be had at your Ski Club.

Jim P     SKI SCHOOL NOTES by Jim Polaski, Ski School Director

THE SEASON IS NEAR...

Well, another summer has come and gone and that means that your Ausblick Ski School is getting ready for another busy season. Last year we broke all previous records with over 700 lessons taught involving close to 1000 students.

We have hired a number of new instructors and have begun our training programs, so we will be more than ready to meet everyone's expectations again this season.

We have made one significant change for this year in that we will no longer offer the Saturday Group Lessons. This program has had declining participation and unfortunately, we do not have enough instructor resources to support it any longer. We WILL continue to offer the Friday Group Lessons, which will begin on Friday January 6th, 2012. You can look for a email on this program in November.

As always our flagship "private" lesson program will be offered on Saturday and Sundays from 10:00am - 3:00pm. These lessons will begin just as soon as the hill is white. Scheduling of lessons will begin as soon as we have an "opening day" on the schedule.

If you have not already done so, NOW is the time to try on the kids gear to see that it still fits them. Also take a look at their skis. Even kids skis need a good tune annually. If there appears to any rust or nicks on the edges they need sharpening. If the bases appear to be chalky or dry, have them waxes. A ski with a good tune is easier to turn and really speeds up the learning process. When it comes to clothing, remember that we never wear anything made of cotton skiing. Cotton becomes wet and cold which equals a crabby student !

Feel free to call at anytime you have questions or want to schedule an appointment.

We will see you all soon!!!
