Annual Meeting Notes
The annual meeting of the members of Ausblick, Inc. was held at the chalet on May 19, 2010. The Directors reported on the past year's activity in all areas of the Club, including membership, race team, social events, ski school, ski patrol, website, house and grounds, building project and hill operations. Also, 10-month financial statements, Operating Report, Capital Report, Cash Flow Report and Balance Sheet were distributed and discussed in detail. Our fiscal year runs from July 1st to June 30th. The message from these reports is that Ausblick, Inc is strong in all areas. The election was then held and Julie Lawrence, Bob Kuelthau, Jim Stein and Bob Turowski were elected to another 3-year term on the Ausblick Board.

Presidents Corner - Rick Ludwig, President
We have just mailed your dues statement for the upcoming year. We need to start this process in the summer so that by the opening of the Hill in December, we have all memberships set for the season.
Our club continues to be in a strong financial position. We had a great ski season and will finish our fiscal year on June 30, 2010 with a surplus. Further evidence of our strength is the lengthy waiting list of people that want to join our club.
At the meeting for our members, on August 19, 2009, to explain Ausblick's current and future improvements plans, we projected that the new maintenance building would increase family and associate dues by $150.00 to $175.00 and increase emeritus, senior and junior dues between $75.00 and $100.00. We also indicated that other "normal" operating cost increases could also add to that dues increase amount. I am happy to report that the 2010-2011 dues increase approved by the Board is less than these projections. The increase in dues for 2010-2011 is $120.00 for a family membership, $80.00 increase for an associate, $60.00 increase for a senior or junior membership and a $40.00 increase for an emeritus member. The surplus from our financially strong 2009-2010 year helped keep this dues increase down. Also, the Board took into consideration the fact that the economy is still sputtering so we wanted to keep our dues increase as low as possible.
Please pay your dues on time. This is the only way we will know that you are returning as a member next year. Also, if you know that you are not returning next year, please call Vivian Clark (262-781-7506) to let us know as soon as possible. Then we can assign that open membership to a new member. At the present time, there are over 200 names on our waiting list hoping to become Ausblick members.
In closing, I would like to thank all of the Board members that have volunteered their time to serve your club for the next year. Our challenge is to continue to keep Ausblick the best membership skiing experience in the Midwest. |

Managers Message - Dennis Evinrude, General Manager
I hope this spring has treated you well and you are looking forward to an enjoyable summer. At this time of the year we focus on all our off season maintenance. Everyone of our Snow Guns, Pumps, Snow Groomers, Trucks, Tractors, and of course the Chairlift need our tender loving care so they perform reliably when called upon. We will also be looking at maintenance items in the lodge as we have now used it for eight (8) seasons. It is starting to show signs of use and must be brought back up to par.
The hot topic here at the hill is of course our new Maintenance Building and Pump House. Not only will the building perform as it's title suggests, it will also house the staff lockers and changing room which are currently crammed into the basement of the lodge. It may also offer the opportunity to provide overflow for our lodge on Race Day. This new building is designed to serve the present and future needs of Ausblick for a minimum of 50 years.
While we are starting later than originally planned due to complications in the Permit Issue process, we are excited to announce that construction has begun. As of this week, the builders are completing the footings and will begin constructing walls.
The best news is that we are On Time and Under Budget and anticipate an October Completion. This should give us plenty of time to make the building operational for the upcoming season. Many of you may not be aware of the fact that the roof on the current building almost collapsed under the weight of ice and snow last season. We were able to make emergency repairs without incident, but it put a huge emphasis on the need to complete this project sooner than later. We will keep you posted on the progress as things move along. Additionally, I hope to have a link on the Web site soon that will allow you to view more progress photos.

As we are enjoying the great start to summer you probably aren't thinking about ski racing. Well start thinking about it! Ausblick Race Team is scheduling some great opportunities to train this summer and fall. The dates for the Mt. Hood, Oregon summer ski camp has been set for June 20th to 27th. Dryland training will start in September at BE Fitness in Delafield, look for emails as the date gets closer. The Thanksgiving Copper Camp dates have been set for November 20th thru 26th. This camp is the best opportunity for athletes to get early season training at a world class venue. E-mails will be going out with more information on the camp in July. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have regarding anything related to the ski race team at randy@ausblickskiraceteam.com. Have a great summer. Sincerely, Randy Bourdo |

Ski Patrol Room - Bob Turowski, Board Member & Liaison to the Ski Patrol
Our Ausblick Ski Patrol is pleased to announce this past ski season has shown substantial reduction in the number of accidents at our Ski Club. As always, credit is given to our Ski School Instructors for the outstanding lessons they provide and to our Club Membership for applying those skills while on the hill. Effective June 1st., our Ski Patrol Board membership has changed. Our new Patrol Leadership is as follows: · Scott Livingston: Patrol Director/Representative · Nick Rogne: Assistant Patrol Representative · Rick Jansky: Treasurer · Lance Grady: Legal Advisor · Mike Herro: Secretary · Penny Beams: Medical Advisor · Steve Gillingham: Patroller-at-Large Our Ski Patrol is made up of Ausblick Members with a vested interest in promoting safe skiing while at the club. Patrollers are asked by Club Management to be watchful of incidents which could prove hazardous to our skiing membership and guests while out on the hill. Please don't be offended if a patroller should approach you, point out their concern and ask that you refrain from an activity. Their goal is to prevent accidents if possible. If there's a difference of opinion, please bring it to club management for further discussion. Our Ski Patrol is about to begin its pre-season activities. In early July, classes begin for those training to become patrollers, and run weekly until November. Also during that timeframe, annual recertification classes will be scheduled for CPR/AED, Chair Evacuation and Emergency Care continuing education for all patrollers. If anyone has an interest in more information regarding ski patrolling, please visit the Ausblick.org website and follow the link to our Ski Patrol site.
