    'Focus on the Future' Program 
Provides Job Skills Training


Great Plains Improvement Foundation partnered with the City of
Lawton to help high schools students to acquire job skills training to prepare them for the world of work. American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds supported the program.

Stimulus Funds Enable Member Agencies Launch or Expand Early Head Start Programs


With funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, five member agencies have launched new Early Head Start programs and two agencies have expanded their existing programs. Click on the agency name below to learn about their program.

Community Action Development Corporation held an open house recently for its newly renovated county office in Sentinel. The renovation expanded useable space in the building located in the downtown area.

Former OU Coach Barry Switzer Helps Raise Funds for Little Dixie Community Action Agency

The Little Hands, Big Hearts gala hosted by Little Dixie Community Action Agency featured Barry Switzer as keynote speaker and raised $60,000 for early childhood programs.

The Oklahoma Association of Community Action Agencies presented state awards during its annual conference in September.

Low-Interest 'Green Home Loans' Available in Oklahoma City

The Community Action Agency of Oklahoma City and Oklahoma/Canadian Counties in partnership with the City of Oklahoma City is offering low-interest loans for residents to make energy saving improvements to their homes.

OWHAC to Award Scholarship

A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded by the Oklahoma Weatherization and Housing Advisory Council. Application submission deadline is Jan. 14, 2011.

Renee Fultz Dies

Renee Fultz who was the Health and Nutrition Coordinator for the Crossroads Youth & Family Services Head Start program died on Oct. 12 in Sugarland, Texas. OKACAA extends sincere sympathies to her family and colleagues at Crossroads.
